I just finished Breasts and Eggs and I really loved it! I totally agree that it was kind of unsettling and uncomfortable at times especially at the start of the book. But honestly it was such a good read. I really liked that there was a semblance of a plot, but it was less about the plot and more about the relationships and the deliberation about bringing children into the world. I found sooo much of what the characters think about existence super relatable and I didn’t really expect that. Like I’ve always thought existing is kind of a burden and I remember feeling guilty about how hard my parents had to work to take care of me, and how I wished that wasn’t the case. And when I was considering whether to have my own child - I totally considered how I’d be placing the burden of existence onto a new being who didn’t ask for it and while I feel guilty about that, I also feel this weird hubris that for sure I’ll make it worth it for my child because I’ll love him so much and do everything to make him a thriving little person. I’m still thinking about so much of what the characters grappled with and I’m glad I read it! I hope you keep liking it Ariel!

Who put a pricetag on the universe? I’d rather live than fending for a spot. The rings of Saturn love to spin their skirt. Its ballet should be free for all of us. We’re trained to stand around with stormless hearts and miss the concerts waiting in the line. A shame to hear a muffled orchestra instead of finding secret ways inside. A comet’s rage against admission fees. It sought to hear the peaceful planet’s sound. If only Earth erased the price of seats, for Jupiter’s already wrapped with frowns. If living freely costs us everything, let it. We won’t be mournful when it ends. - a sonnet written by me

Nothing to see here is soo good I dont want to hype it up too much because while it was more on the slow side for me, the themes of found family and the hijinks the children and main character get up too was quite enjoyable, at least from what I took away from it
