Notice how the coda was originally just to signify a CinemaScope picture. By the 70s it had been largely abandoned as CinemaScope wasn't being used. George Lucas liked the extra flourish at the end to go over his LUCASFILM title card and insisted it be used for the original 1977 Star Wars release. It (and his film) proved so popular that: A) People still associate it with Star Wars. and B) Its become part of the standard Fox logo for most films.

The 1932 clip at 0:26 is phony. Alfred Newman wrote that version, the formal title of the music piece being "20th Century Fox Fanfare WITH CINEMASCOPE EXTENSION." The additional extension after the original fanfare was composed specifically for the release of THE ROBE in 1953, the first CinemaScope film; it was needed to cover the second add frame ("20the Century Fox Presents A CinemaScope Picture"). That extension did not exist in 1932, so this particular clip is bogus.

What on earth is the 'CinemaScope Extension' doing on that second 1932 example? This was not introduced until twenty years later. One is left wondering about the validity of the other examples. 🤔
@kistunethefoxsgameplaychan670

This goes the same for the 1st example of the 1981 version... after 1953 they used the 'CinemaScope Extension' in every version after 1953. Can someone explain this?
@HMV101
8 жыл бұрын
+Mr. Fox's Journey! Actually Fox stopped using Alfred Newman's CinemaScope extension to their fanfare in 1967. This was due to the fact that they were not using Boch & Lomb CinemaScopeⓒ lenses anymore, but had changed to a superior quality anamorphic made by Panavision. Therefore, nearly all Fox movies from then on carried the tag 'In Panavision' somewhere within its credits. The 'CinemaScope' extension theme was not heard again until a decade later when George Lucus decided it was to good to remain unused and had it reinstated, played this time over his own logo in the first 'Star Wars'.
@kistunethefoxsgameplaychan670

Oh.... It actually also makes me wonder why they used the CinemaScope extension in the Grandeur 70 one. Well, it was a bit of a long logo... but still.

@kistunethefoxsgameplaychan670

Charles Slater Replying to your original comment, I think the out of nowhere 1932 'CinermaScope' extension was fan-made, because I was doing some research and going through some of my VHS movies that had 20th Century Fox logos back in the 30's or 40's, I couldn't find ANYTHING that had the extension. And the (extension) fan-fare that played wasn't composed until 1953 actually. For more info, I recommend looking up "20th Century Fox History Episode 1". If you're into other Logos like MGM or Paramount, I also recommend watching the other episodes.
