When I first discovered Booktube, I watched a lot of Booktube. I eventually narrowed down my viewing to you and a couple others. I love the fact you recommend a lot of non fiction. I do read fiction but mostly non fiction. Definitely adding Havana and All Strangers are Kin to my TBR list. I have long wanted to visit Cuba. Maybe the current administration will make it easier.

Hi Olive, I will be joining you for the summer read. I’ve chosen three books to read over the summer, the history of color, Doc and Jane’s fame. During July while I’m listed to all things Jane Austin I will be quilting a Jane Austin quilt. The Riley Blake company has a line of Jane Austin reproductions of an actual Jane coverlet that is on exhibit on her bed. I chose doc because doc holiday is my favorite cowboy. I grew up in the 50’s love westerners. And since I craft in colors the subject of color always interest me. I’m looking forward to your reviews after you have read the 📚.

It strikes me that you would really enjoy Wendy Williams's book, The Language of Butterflies: How Thieves, Hoarders, Scientists, and Other Obsessives Unlocked the Secrets of the World's Favorite Insect. And, hey, the book opens with a Kandisnky quote: "Colour is a power which directly influences the soul". I'd say the book intertwines your interest in natural science true crime, the natural world, and color (butterflies are the only insects humans seem to prize, even more than bees it seems (sadly!, and much to our detriment). Looks like you've got some excellent picks here. The Seaweed book, the book on color, and Dreaming in Turtle especially caught my eye. Will mention The Way to the Sea to my husband.

Great video, as always, Olive. What a wealth of nonfiction books you have accumulated! I love nonfic as much as you do, but I get frustrated because I tend to read it a lot more slowly than I read fiction, so I'm always falling behind! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Desert Solitaire. I was slightly obsessed with Edward Abbey when I was in my 20s and early 30s. I lived in Utah off and on for many years, and spent a lot of time in the red rock country he loved, so I felt a special connection with his work, especially the nonfiction. Some of his fiction is a little funky, but can be entertaining.
