That Star Trek line; 'Cause it taught me so much... Like how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon, or even female... But most importantly, when I didn't have any friends... It made me feel like... Maybe I did. Has to be one of the greatest developments for Fry, the single line pretty much sums up his whole character, but in a really good way... Fry is probably the biggest reason that this show is a comfort show for so many people. The everyman character type, but so perfectly done that nothing really FEELS out of character, he's sad but he's happy, he's someone who suffers with losing everyone he ever knew but has this whole new world to struggle to fit into.

Many of the characters from the show are very well written. They feel like people that could actually exist and that makes it much more interesting. Even bit characters are written with very humanistic traits. Even the evil characters like Mom are given a lot of 3 dimensional aspects and I've found myself even quoting Mom in my own life. People wonder why this show is so good, the answer it was written by highly educated people. Every science based joke or problem are actual mathematical equations and theories and they planned things out, case in point one episode the professor creates a machine that swaps a persons consciousness with another's but doesn't allow the two same people to swap with each other again. As you can imagine things quickly get out of hand and they need to find a way to fix it, which basically meant getting as many people mind swapped as possible to make a massive mental change chain, and if you sit down and watch all the people who it goes through to get everyone back in their proper bodies it actually works out correctly. Shows like Family Guy and American Dad fail where this one succeeding because the writers are just trying to get to the next joke or reference. Futurama however focused on making their characters feel as real as possible and that's why even though the series has ended a total of five times now people still want more and a fifth revival is on its way.

This is the fry I liked, funny, relatable, insecure, with a great heart, but with defects, like any human being. A perfect comedy character. The Futurama revival and movies made him such a tragic and cheesy character, focusing so much in his romance with Leela, that I couldn't believe his stupid humor anymore. He felt like a soap opera actor. His crush with Leela was just a part of his character.
@GabrielHdzLP
Жыл бұрын
Why did they have to ruin Fry by trying to make him the perfect guy for Leela? Is Leela perfect, actually? Isn't true love, when you love somebody, just the way he/she is, despite all of his defects, like Fry loving Leela despite her eye, or tentacles (in one ep)? Sorry, but that's a terrible lesson. In reality you'll never find a guy or woman that fits your desires perfectly, neither you'll be perfect at anytime. In order to get and keep someone to love you just the way you are, you'll have to love that person just the way it is as well, and tolerate his defects. If the only way for Fry to get Leela, is being Mr perfect (mature, intelligent, Dr, talented artist, etc.), then Leela is just not worthy.
