I have one that was oddly problematic when I bought it. Typical failures to fire, eject and feed, but most of those went away after the break in period and applying super lube to the rails. The one thing that wouldn't work was Aquila Super Extra. The cases kept getting stuck in the barrel and I'd have to pry them out with a pocket knife. My best quess is that the barrel diameter was slightly out of spec and that the cases were expanding inside when being fired. I purchased the threaded barrel and replacement recoil spring from Ruger. It now runs flawlessly. Didn't change anything else. One failure to eject on Federal Punch in the last 500 rounds. Everything else has been perfect, including Federal Automatch which is problematic for me in most of my other 22s.

I do worry that my LCP is breaking in with me crediting the aftermarket parts for improvements. Although, the first upgrade wasn't until I had about 800 rounds thru it. Given some ammo finickyness, I worry its threshold for failure is low enough that a big temperature swing could trigger problems.

I bought a Roger LCP II and a whole case of Federal Punch. I have never gotten ten rounds through it without a FTF or a bunch of stove pipes. The only reason I haven’t sold the gun was because I spent almost with Mcarbo trying to rectify the problem but it is still there. I will try to emulate what you did otherwise I’m getting tide of it. By comparison I have a Walther P22 and a Keltec P17 that are flawless. The Walther is about 15 years old.

@@DrDanMD It is a widespread problem. Appears to be a QC issue with springs. Check out the comments to my video as well as the positive review vids. However it is an issue "easily" solved by Galloway Precision. And once solved, it's an awfully sweet deep concealment pistol. For the mid to big channels, they may have been supplied with a reviewer sample by Ruger. Possibly carefully tested before shipped out. For the most part, I don't think reviewers bend a review just because they got something "free". Great content: I’m going to have the Galloway spring kit on hand, as well as mcarbo’s extra power magazine spring and recoil spring. Given that pocket pistols in general tend to be more finicky, and this being a 10 round 22LR pocket pistol at that, I am willing to forgive its potential shortcomings and keep on hand the springs to try as needed. On the plus side, 22lr is a delight, and the cheapest, so I’m going to look at it in a positive light and see this as a fun little project gun instead of a headache

I used to have light strike and malfunction problems before, but I've also put probably 1k rounds through it now, and it functions near flawlessly now with almost anything, but for carry i use CCI Stingers. I also run it quite wet, and clean after every shooting session. With a dab of white paint on the front sight and bright pink on the rear, it's pretty well set, and I love it dearly, and trust it. I think that because you can practice with it so much since ammo is cheap, that that familiarty makes it a fantastic carry gun, because you are likely to be quite accurate with it. And the lack of recoil and very quick successive rounds.

Thought I got off relatively easy, as with mere polishings and firing chamber reamings it started to run very well. But holy cow, now it has a serious new problem, one I've never even *heard* of for any pistol: it randomly turns the safety ON when firing a clip. After the first couple times, once I figured out these were not misfires, I thought, "That's weird, how could I have brushed it back?" Next session it happened twice while firing one-handed. Now it happens once per clip on average even with CCI Standard Velocity, even with subsonic Eley. This is a show stopper, a safety is a must-have for my wife and she wouldn't want me to remove it. Off to the factory I guess, first time for any firearm I have ever owned or been around.

I’ve don’t all of these modifications including the trigger. Additionally I put a stainless steel guide rod… and lightly polished internal areas that I though could benefit. Well, I am glad that the Galloway kit is working well for you, as it has for me (but again, I did not use the lighter firing pin spring). How did the installation go this time? Obviously a frustrating experience, but I hope it did not torture you for three hours again. Was the hook shaped pick suggestion that I gave you helpful? It definitely saved my sanity. Something I did on my last range visit with mine: I loaded up my four mags with very unreliable old 22LR ammo, about three out of every 10 rounds was a dud. It was very good practice for any misfires. One thing that I have incorporated into my routine with clearing malfunctions with this gun is to turn it upside down when I pull the slide back to remove the dud. The reason I do this is because sometimes it’ll jam when pulling the slide back on a dead round to try to eject it. At least it did when I first got it two years ago. I hope it finally meets your expectations (for the most part)! And it is genuinely fun to shoot and that’s something for a pocket pistol.

Installation took about 30 minutes. Becoming familiar with how to keep those springs, puns, safety, and disconnector in place. I still think it's a project for maybe 15% of gun owners. Most should probably send it to Galloway and pay the $50 for installation. I do think the spring kit should include new roll pins for the extractor, firing pin, and hammer pin. But once done it is a sweet little pistol. Way more fun to shoot than the 380 LCP's. It'd be so easy for Ruger to fix this. Given the reputation hit and customer support costs, I'm thinking they'd be ahead building the LCP2 with the Galloway springs.
