Alittle bit about this bani down below 👇
Filled with decorative literary devices this type of composition is called kissa literature. Charitropakhyan is collection of hundreds of tales that describe the lowest depts and the highest moral character human kind can reach.
Chartir means a painting while Pakhyan means to explain (Veechar/katha). Charitropakhyan means a collection of 405 stories painted with words.
Some of these tales were taken classical indian texts such as the Mahabharata, the Ramayana, the Puranas, the Hitopadesa, the Panchatantra, from Mughal family stories, from folk tales of Rajputana and the Punjab, and even from ancient Hebrew lore. Some stories are believed to be the personal experiences of the Tenth Guru and others miscellaneous sources.
It is clear from the stories and from the very last section “Benti Chaupee” a composition read by Sikhs daily , each tale is meant to impart wisdom and clarity in a Sikh’s lives. Guru speaks to the Khalsa and defines the endless boundaries of a manmukh in return leaving us seeking the refuge of the guru for ever lasting protection.
