Ahoy there, fellow sailors! Looks like I got a little too excited with the virtual wind in my editing sails and accidentally set Petro on a time-traveling plane! 🕰 No worries, though - we're hitting reverse on the timeline and giving you the scoop on what happened before the great disappearing act. Brace yourselves for a blast from the past... or should I say, a sail from the past! ⛵ #ChronologicalConfusion #TimeTravelEditingMishap

Nope, washing machine is still in parts...oh, yeah, a few episodes back I took it apart because the inner steel drum chafed through the outer plastic drum and lots of soapy water inside the boat!

Hi !, why don't you reduced your main sail before to be hit by the storm ???
@SailingSisu

Well, it is on reef one, but for incase it needs to be reduced more and the wind gets higher than anticipated for the current reef situation.

Question. When I use my car's nav system I always have the point of direction view heading up the screen. Is there a reason for not doing that on a sailboat? looks like it would be confusing. Probably just for me... Have a Merry Christmas!

I actually prefer North-Up because then I can find my bearings much faster and learn a new city much quicker. As for the boat, I always want to know in which direction I am going relative to my departure point for a few reasons, but mainly a) one gets kinda confused with all the tacking where north is and where your destination is if the chart keeps on moving around. Remember, a chart is where one don't want to go (rocks) and a map is where one must go (roads). Then secondly, should something go wrong with the instruments, then one has this chart, the direction, and relative distances, all burnt into your mind. If the chart keeps on moving in various directions when trying to keep heading up, one's mind does not form that same memories. When zooming out, it is way easier to see that one is on the East Coast a few miles south east from Chesapeake Bay and you are closing in on Hatteras when North is always up.

Since when is 30 kts wind a storm?

My apologies! I foolishly assumed that a storm is a disturbed state of the atmosphere that is usually associated with severe or unpleasant weather conditions. Well, according to the Beaufort scale, a wind of 28-33 knots is classified as a moderate gale, which is a type of storm. But I guess you already knew that? You must have a lot of experience with tropical storms, which have maximum sustained winds of 34 knots or greater, but less than 64 knots so, yeah, we missed that one by 4kts. And we needed 4kts for a Gale Warning, which is issued by the National Weather Service when winds of 34-47 knots are expected or occurring. You clearly have a better understanding of what a storm is than me. After all, it’s all about the wind speed, right?
