Hello, Dr. Zack. I am an ophthalmic surgical assistant with 20 plus years experience encompassing every aspect of eye surgery from corneal, cataract, retinal, glaucoma and oculoplastics, etc. to start...I truly admire your personal journey, proffesionalism, and your passion for sharing the sacrifices one makes to become what you are....I had to giggle at your 6 something o'clock with an open globe!! I would love to assist for a brilliant and laid back surgeon as yourself!! Most ophthalmologist are NOT YOU!! However...I am glad they were and are the way they are because no matter the hours, days, holidays, crazy hours....and the high demand for perfection...it molded and made me the tech you guys can rely on to this day....even with the fake plants!! Lol God Bless you, Doc!! I love being a part of saving sight each day I go to work thanks to guys like you!! Ps...your "call bag" is awesome!!

Much respect for people that take this on. It's a profession that has such a profound effect on people's lives. You don't have to go back that far in time where all these folks would be at least partially blind. At least now they have a chance. I do sometimes wonder though about the wisdom of having someone who has been up for so long doing such delicate surgery. I guess it's been done that way for a long time so I guess they know what they're doing. Thank you for what you do. :)

Hi! Zack. I am your Chinese fan, also I am gonna continue my residency in Ophthalmology next year. Really excited to see how you shared your experience, and I have already felt the extreme pressure coming hhh🤣. Hope to see more details of how you get examined professionally, and we international fans can learn about its differences in teaching to enrich ourselves.☺️

Hi!! I am about to start Ophthalmology residency Wanted to ask you some tips for someone starting (in general... books, equipment, etc.) Specifically, what lenses do you recommend (preferably Volk) for starters? Thank you so much!!

hi, i have a video on the channel about books for ophthalmology. check that out. as far as lenses go, I have Volk. You’ll need a 90d, 20d, and probably a 78d (although i personally gave a super 66 in place of the 78 that i like alot). good luck on starting ophtho. I think you’ll love it!

As a fellow ophthalmologist: this work ethic is extremely wrong and exposes you to medical malpractice due to fatigue and exaustion. Fight to change that
@absidyabsidy2727

you are definitely not a doctor, at least in the US, if you think this is abnormal for residents. Zac’s work ethic and lifestyle is perfectly fine and normal for a resident.
@KindlyRequested

@@absidyabsidy2727 you're right, since I work in continental europe. I'm not saying that his lifestyle is outside of an american resident's standards: i'm saying that it's plain wrong per se, 24H shifts are unhealthy and dangerous, and the fact they're so widespread and commonly accepted only makes the situation worse. There's NO romantic value in overworked doctors, only risk for malpractice. Americans should let this toxic "overworked martyr Hero against all odds" idea go

@@KindlyRequested okay, so what does this have to do with him? He’s not the one espousing and romanticizing the “overworked resident” trope, he’s just documenting his life

@@KindlyRequested personally I don’t see where I’m being aggressive lmao, I’ve just been giving facts. I also still don’t see how your comment has anything to do with him individually. If you have a critique for the American medical education system as an institution, great, but telling Zac that his work ethic is dangerous and that he should try to change that isn’t offering support or solutions

5:16-5:36 as a Doctor you should know about keeping your hands away from your face ... better health practices and you need to set this good example for a broad internet community especially in Covid 19 days... for your own safety and others ...
