Actually, there will be a Naked Gun reboot before too long. Ed Helms is slated to play Frank Drebin, and it will play out as more of a sequel than a remake.

I read an anecdote once that may have provided the inspiration for that joke. A legendary bank robber was about to be executed by firing squad and was asked if he had any last requests; he said "I'd like a bullet-proof vest." If true, that seems like the same kind of logic as asking for the gun from the Drebin scene.

yeah, watch the original Posiedon Adventure, he plays the captain of the ship, he goes down with the ship in the accident but all his dalog was serious I kept expecting some funny quip and never happens, every time i see the movie it's like that, expect something funny, never happens...great movie though....better than Titanic cus no forced romance story in there, just a small group of people who fight to survive....

I saw Poseidon Adventure the original when I was a kid, love that movie, years later i see it again as an adult the there Leslie is as the captain of the ship and I expect something funny and no he's serious and I remember oh yes he was a serious guy before being in police squad & Airplane.... still even the little bit of screen time he had in Poseidon was good....good actor serious or funny IMO

I told him I used to sit with my Dad watching him in any number of 60's detective series...He was in every one. My fave scene is near the start of the first movie, where Drebin breaks up a meeting of leaders hostile to the USA. In the middle of the fight, he puts Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in a headlock, grabs a hankie, wipes the birthmark off Gorbachev's forehead, and says, "I *thought* so!"

I saw The Naked Gun when I was in law school. My buddies and I were studying for finals and we were totally stressed out. We decided to catch the 10:00 pm showing of the movie at our local theater. There were maybe ten people in the theater, total. We cracked up - the greatest stress reliever ever. We all aced our finals the next day. Great memories.

I met him at the state capital when I was 18. I was working there and was cussing this desk I was working on, turned around and he was standing right behind me laughing. I couldn’t believe it. He’s just like this in real life. Made me laugh and took a picture with me.

R.I.P - Frank Drebin - he was possibly the funniest man in the world, or possibly the worst, but for me... He was the best guy. Im a 15 year old guy, inspired by his sense of humour, iv seen him in the movie airplane 1 and 2, Police Squad, and the movie of Police Squad, Naked Gun. All of these movies are favourites of mine, and as much as I laugh at these clips I cry... of joy, laughing my ass off at each scene, I know that there is still a part of him with us, and that... is the movie's. ;)

Scary Movie 3 was really funny with Leslie Nelson he was perfect for being the president and so funny he opens the door at the end and knocks the ring girl who was trying to kill the people lol reminded me of Naked Gun he opens the door when a criminal is pointing a gun at the cops and the door knocks over the criminal and he doesn't know whats going on when the cop buddies thank him, takes good acting to do that

I watched all his stuff with my father... best times. I'd always watch his reactions and wait for him to laugh it made me laugh. I didn't really get most of the jokes and such but as I grew up I loved this stuff and always was interested in movies and shows that most children had no idea about haha thanks dad.

I once watched all the Police Squad episodes while tripping on acid and I was laughing so hard that I legit was afraid that I would die from too much fun. But I couldn't stop watching either. Scary shit.

Uh, from the first movie: You wanna take a dinghy, Frank? No, I took care of that at the press conference. Or... Protecting the safety of the Queen is a job that's happily taken by Police Squad, for no matter how silly the idea of having a queen may seem to us, we must be warm and gracious hosts.
