Verruckt I think is the closest a map has coming to look like hell Not even MOTD has that feeling for me The flaming forest all around the asylum, the screaming, the crying, the distorted music, the sprinters, the fact that when you look outside there is ONLY fire and forest, nothing else beyond the smoke and fog, and the really harsh lighting that almost puts some areas in complete darkness save for the glowing eyes of the zombies or the glow of power ups It really has a hellish feel to it and with how claustrophobic and damn near suffocating it is it really feels like you’re trapped and you can’t get out in Verruckt

Man, classic waw and bo1 zombies had so much charm, it was still early in it's existence and they didn't know where they wanted to take the story, they were just winging it and using the communities feedback and theories to help build the story as they went. So many hidden little details, I remember looking up videos of this kind of stuff back in the bo1 days. It's crazy to think it Almost wasn't gonna be a fully fledged game mode, it was just a little secret mini game at the end of the campaign for waw, until it sky rocketed into popularity and there was demand for this epic mode. I wish we could go back to these days where the story wasn't in your face and convoluted, where all the bits of lore were just subtle references or easy to miss secrets on the map. Now a days it feels like there's 100 steps to do for an Easter egg that usually doesn't make sense on every map and it kinda takes away from the classic feel of zombies. All the waw maps had such good atmosphere and ambience too, if you ever just stopped and listened or looked around in any of the maps you could tell a lot of effort was put it into to make it mysterious and spooky without being overbearing and complex like the more modern maps have been like.

Late to the party, but watching the video a second time, I realised the children rhyme is actually a french one : "...pendant que le loup n'y est pas; si le loup y étais il nous mangerait..." ("...while the wolf isn't there; if he would, he'd eat us..." basically a (creepy?) lullaby about children going to the forest and being happy while playing with fire, as a wolf is bound to happen and eat them eventually; the rhyme ends with the wolf responding a last time, chasing them and eating them - yeah we are not a wolf loving country, since medieval times) All this to say, it may have been, at the time, a hint towards the Paris final map.

Good job on mentioning paris, but im surprised to not see any mention of Tunguska. its documented the devs intended the final WaW map to be either Tunguska or Paris, but the release of Black Ops stopped this and they ultimately scrapped both maps after Kino to adopt Ascension. Its theorized the Tunguska and Pennsylvania events are the origins of Element 115, and that Group 935 had a base in Tunguska before WW2, left forgotten in the chaos. This would have given us Russian zombies, keeping the geographical theme after Shi No Numa gave us Japanese zombies. The coordinates for Tunguska are in the maps after all, and its been theorized that the Tunguska meteor, or at least parts of it, were transported elsewhere after the outbreak of the war (Rising Sun, Der Riese and Verrükt among others).

Another thing about the mobile version of WaW zombies that not many people know: Unlike on console, the marines on Nacht speak. Specifically, on getting 3, 5, and 7 headshots in a row, your character will say a voice line ("I'm gonna bust some heads," "Back in the dirt!" "Kick ass!" always in that order). So yeah, not only do the Nacht marines have a voice, but they all have the same voice at that. (There's also a few other differences between mobile and console that aren't quite as interesting, but still neat.)

You actually do get 25 points from the perk machines - your points just round to the nearest 10! For example, if you save up exactly 1000 points after getting 25 points, you’ll be unable to buy a 1000 point item because you actually have 995, despite your counter saying otherwise. If you get another 25 points from another perk machine, it’ll only add 20 points to your counter, compensating for the over count from the first machine.

while i stopped playing zombies after black ops 4 because it just wasnt as good anymore, id totally come back to the Treyarch zombies if they did a more horror approach to the game, its there, its always been there, just wish they capitalized on it, also nice work, its channels like this that keep me remembering the good that zombies was in my opinion

MW3 had a Lost easter egg as well. Number on a door outside of the map "Village".

I think I can speak for many when I say that I prefer the “old school” zombies than the newer ones. Graphics were better and more detailed and gave you a more realistic feeling to the game and I really loved the little Easter eggs and puzzles that made sense to an extent. At age 30 I stopped with black ops 2 and retired myself from the gaming community. In my opinion the storyline started to get out of hand along with the all the futuristic nonsense which i just didn’t care for at all. It just didn’t feel like zombies in the newer games. If you grew up playing the very first zombies of COD like I did, I’m sure you could also relate to what I’m saying. Just my opinion though.

Wish there was a little intro video to theses maps that would show it being normal then it would show the zombies take over

19:44 I heard you get actually 25, it's just the game hud doesn't recognize non-10 multiples. Someone did this and got 20 first, 30 second, implying it's likely 25, just the game doesn't display the 5, but it's there.

weird fact, the cries of 12:21 are the exact same as the spiderman gba games (spiderman 3, ultimate, battle for ny) I know I've heard them before activision.

I really want CoD zombies to return to the old horror atmosphere they used to have. Comparing Black ops 4 zombies to world at war it’s gotten a bit more goofy and not as serious. Blood of the dead is t a great map but it has a similar atmosphere to what it used to have
