This one from the UK.... Within the Metropolitan Police District, excluding the City of London, it is illegal to walk down the streets whilst carrying a plank of wood as well as poles, ladders and placards. The ban extends to casks, tubs, hoops, wheels, ladders, poles and placards. And if you thought you would get around the rule by rolling your tub along, that's banned too. The law is in place to prevent nuisance and increase ease of passage on public thoroughfares.

@@rolandwhite8669 Politicians have tried laws that attacked single mothers. About 20 years ago, New Brunswick required women name the "father" and refused welfare benefits without proof that legal steps were taken to get money out of the man. There are similar laws in the UK regarding not being drunk in the pub. I used to work in pubs and I had to refuse service to people who were already drunk and offer them soft drinks instead. I also worked at places that would make people leave if they were 'too drunk' irrespective of their behaviour. It''s irresponsible in my opinion since at least there is help available in the pub should someone fall over and there's far less risk of assault whilst in the pub, even drunk people are humans and should be able to wait somewhere safe while they get a taxi home.

Here in the US, if you want to be assaulted, your best chances are to go to a bar (pub), get hammered, then run off at the mouth to anyone. I have watched bartenders join in on the fight. All while one person literally fell over and received no help from anyone until police arrived to arrest and take him to jail. We are what anyone would call, "ass-backwards" over here. #22 is a law in South Australia too, but more specific, a pub or bar is not permitted to serve alcohol to a visibly inebriated person. It makes sense to a degree, as it is a way to cut down on alcohol-induced violence. #19 is a bad law for one reason, if you've had a serious falling out with your parents, why would you want to visit them? That would be far too stressful for both parties involved, but given China, I doubt there's exceptions for such circumstances. #11 is most likely an attempt to cut on traffic pollution, that's what I can at least glean from the law anyway. It does seem very hard to enforce, borderline impossible. As for some other dumb laws in Australia; 1. It is illegal to dress up as Batman and Robin. I have no idea how this is enforced or even why it's a law in the first place. 2. If you put up a poster for a missing item, you are not allowed to put a "No Questions Asked" clause on it. 3. If you arrive at a pub or bar by horse, the owners of the property are legally required to feed your horse for the duration of your visit. 4. In Western Australia, you were unable to own more than 50kg of potatoes at once, the law was repealed in 2016. 5. If you decide to wear a bikini on the Gold Coast, the overall material for said bikini cannot *_exceed_* 6 square inches.

It's illegal to dress up as batman in Australia. Also, if you ride a horse to a pub and tie it to the post outside. The barman is requires by law to provide hay and water. It's still there. Not enforced but there.

License plate days: This was actually tried in the U.S. in the '70's during the gas crunch--you could only buy gas on alternate days! Rape: I was privie to a conversation about an attempted rape case. Our chief secretary never lived down her question: "What happened? Did she beat him off??"

In Michigan, it’s illegal to buy, sell or trade any motor vehicle on Sunday due to religious reasons. According to Michigan laws, Sundays is a better day to spend time with family, friends or to go to church

The UK repealed all its Sunday trading laws in the late 1990s, but large stores and supermarkets are only allowed to be open for seven hours, so that's often 10am to 5 pm.

hey mike. the law in the Philippines you mentioned was enforced primarily to control traffic. the idea is about twenty percent of cars are not allowed on roads on a specific day which in theory should alleviate traffic jams. however, as clever as filipinos are, they just buy a second car with different license plate ending.

Another law from Italy they forbiden in Venice ugly people at the beaches, one from US says that "is illegal to a killer use a bullet proof vest while commits his crime", another from Thailand you are not allowed to put your foot in the image of the prince in the bill Greetings 😊

There's a law in Mobile, Alabama that prohibits high heels within the city limits. It's a protection ordinate to prevent the city from being sued if someone should injure themselves while walking in ridiculous high stilettos on city property. Personally, considering some of the frivolous suits I've seen, I can understand why this law was created. However, there's a law in Florida that prohibits people from tying an alligator to a fire hydrant.

Speaking of not getting drunk in a bar. It's weird that at some point you can't order any more alcohol in a bar because bartender will tell you that you've had enough, and yet noone will tell you that you had enough of food in a restaurant. You can literally eat yourself to death and they won't mind.

Here's one for you:In the UK's Houses of Parliament, the House of Commons to be exact. Knight errant gone wrong: Don't don your shining armor and head to Parliament in the UK. The Statute forbidding Bearing of Armour (1313) Act still prohibits metal suits within the hallowed halls, a legacy of medieval power struggles.

In North Korea, men can only have one of 10 hairstyles, while women can only have one of 14. And it has to match the one you have in your ID. So if you want to change your hairstyle, you have to get a new ID.

In my town of 20,000 there is a law you can’t park your car continuously on the curb for more than 48 hours, lest it be considered “abandoned”. They even give you a warning by chalking your tire to see if it’s been moved. It is later followed by a $20 fine and a note saying it will be towed. This has happened to me a couple times. When paying the last time I told the clerk that the car was kept up and fully licensed and insured. She said the officer whose duty it is gets “a little over zealous” sometimes. I said that they must need beer money or something. A deputy sheriff I know said I can get around this by putting the car in neutral and moving it a few feet every other day. In case you’re wondering this is a town in MN so there’s not a lot of activity that happens here so I’m guessing they’re quite bored.

Here in my town there is a city law against people having a portable basketball hoop placed at the edge of a road, in front of the house. It is to stop kids from being in the street. It is rarely enforced.

!980 in Lagos, Nigeria. In order to reduce the number of cars on the road between 0700 and 1800. Cars with an odd ending number could drive around the city on Monday, Wednesday or Friday. Even numbers on Tuesday or Thursday. It was a free for all on Saturday or Sunday. The wealthy bought two cars, and the savvy had two number plates for the same car.

I don't know if it was fact or fiction, but i've heard of a story where a young family moved into a mew home. upon deciding to redecorate their home themselves they stripped of the old paper off the walls and discovered someone has painted an outline picture of four life sized men giving each other head. Upon taking to neighbours they discovered 4 young gay men once lived in the home all I could say was ouch just hope the children never got to see the images.

How does one enforce the " You can't die in the your city" law?? Does the corpse receive a fine or ticket? There should be a law against receiving payment for fines from a corpse. I can't see how that'd be a problem.

The law in Philippines was also installed temporarily in Venezuela at one point due to the shortage of gasoline for cars due to the economic crisis. In Spanish it was called "pico y placa" and it was the same, licenses with specific numbers had specific days to be on the road (hence consuming less gasoline and not needing to refill as often) ---> suffice it to say, this didn't last long.
