As a phlebotomist I wouldn't suggest coughing while someone is trying to draw blood. It could prohibit someone to get your blood work and you will have to be stuck again. Just saying...

@sandyhenderson441

@@Wicked_KnightRetired nurse here. Yes, you're right. Veins used for routine blood tests or drips aren't strongly built. When the needle is in the hollow centre of a vein, where the blood is, sudden movement of the body e.g. a cough can cause the limb & vein to move relative to the needle which is being held static by the vampire. This can cause the needle's sharp point to go through another part of the vein and into the surrounding tissue. This means: a) the needle is out of the blood flow. If too little blood was obtained for the tests required, the procedure needs repeating with another vein and needle. b) the vein will be bleeding into the tissues from the accidental damage, so big bruise. c) last but not least, the new damage hurts. When having blood taken or a drip sited staying still is important to maximise the chance of success first time. For injections staying still is also important because a sudden movement by the patient can snap the needle off below the skin. This is rare & easily sorted, but is better avoided.

Good list; Mike, you’re a goofball! For some reason, for me, when I get a shot, I have to see the needle go in. I’m not sure why, but knowing the exact moment it goes in, helps to keep it from being painful. I liken it to going to the eye doctor and getting the puff in your eye. I can’t stop blinking because I don’t know when it’s going to happen. Somehow that has always surprised everyone I’ve told.

Not surprised by that at all. I always watch any medical procedures I get if I can. My job for 25 years was installing carpets. I had gotten stitches at least 6 times in those years. Once got stitches thru my finger nail on my middle finger when it was split like a banana. I watched the doctor give me the stitches every time and they would always comment that almost no one else watched when they gave them stitches. I don’t understand how you wouldn’t want to watch that.

Health scientist here. While you've clearly done your research, there is a mistake. It takes a lot of genetic mutations, & usually many years for a cancer to develop (which is why there's a greater risk of cancer with age). It's not a one & done thing, thank goodness. If it was, a lot more people would be struggling with cancer. But you're totally right about our bodies killing off cancer cells. This is the basis for some cancer therapies. Immunity based cancer therapies help the body to recognise certain cancer cells as foreign & kill them off. These types of therapies are becoming more & more helpful, meaning that with other therapies too, one day we may be able to move away from traditional chemotherapy treatments that make patients feel so unwell on top of their already difficult cancer symptoms. Good job though. I thoroughly enjoy your videos.

i know im 10 months late to the convo but figured id add my experience with this type of situation. so personally ive nvr met my biological father mom had an affair and along came me. so my dad ( the man who riased me and i would die for ) has always tried to get me to go into a similar type of work that he is in but i was never into electrical work. what i love doing is general renovations and im completetly self taught. i can pretty much build a house from the ground up minus making the foundation. thats one thing i just nvr got around to working on yet lol. but i can gut a house and re build it all and do pretty much all aspects of the job on my own if i truly wantd to......i found out talking to my sister from my bio dads side that our "dad" used to do this type of work for a living. he ran a crew of guys that would renovate homes or buy homes and gut and re finish to flip them. before this he was a lead hand for a company that after a crew of workers came to a house any issues with any part of a reno my bio dad would get sent in to repair. from roofing to plumbing and all in between. its so crazy when i heard this i realized why my dad hates the line of work i love doing. every time i talk about my day he must get remoinders of this loser who got with my mom lol. ....just so odd the way w are conneted to our parents in ways we cant ever understand. the human body and its way of working is such a special thing. and people say we are small and insignificant HA.

fun fact I learned during some research: your arms each have two major strings of nerves, one of the controls your thumb, index, and middle finger, while the second one controls your ring finger and pinky. So if you damage one of those main nerve strings it could affect up to two or three fingers equally. Then a fun fact from personal experience: if you're spine gets misaligned even a little bit it can cause all kinds of problems, including causing all sorts of muscles all across your body to do weird things and cause issues that seem completely unrelated. Such as, pulling the muscles around your knees to make it feel like they are trying to dislocate themselves, or pulling muscles all across your torso to cause chest pains that can make you freak out even though nothing is wrong, or making your hands or feet numb for no apparent reason, or messing with your circulation, and even pulling the muscles around your hips to the point you can't walk right. (Which is one of the many reasons why chiropractors exist.) Another fun fact from personal experience: sugar can cause you to be in more pain, make an illness worse, and lead to long term problems that aren't just diabetes. I believe it has something to do with the amount of stress it puts on your body to process abnormal amounts of sugar which don't occur naturally, and increased stress can make your body less capable of doing its job. So it can make anything your body is alright fighting even worse, as it increases inflammation. It's especially bad for those with autoimmune problems. (So, for those women who give into their sugar cravings around their period, you might want to find alternatives. It could just be making things worse for you.)

I got a new prescription for some diabetes medication (Mounjaro) and in Germany (in contrast to the USA) there is not yet a ready-made pen on the market and I have to inject it myself because Ozempic and Wagovy are hardly available in the ready-made pen here. My GP gave me needles that were far too long and the pharmacy wanted a fortune for finer needles and I had the pharmacist explain exactly what I had to do but I still was very nervous before the first shot (because the needles from the GP should only go 1/3 into the skin), when a friend who is nurse said to me "Just hum or sing when preparing, that helps with anxiety". I thought she was crazy, but it helped me a lot! I've since bought finer needles on the internet, so it's no longer a problem. But I've never had such a big problem with needles, except that I get nauseous when I look at my own blood when taking blood or injuries (strangely enough only with my own blood). Our brains are strange sometimes.

Ok, with shots, it’s not the injection that hurts. Needles have a point that is extremely shard, and when it enters the skin it has no resistance from your skin. What hurts is most nurses/doctors don’t follow a certain step. When stabilizing the injection site, you are supposed to wait for the alcohol swipe to dry. So when it hurts, your felling the alcohol and not the needle. If you wait then you won’t feel it.

@@ladykoiwolfe I once had an intern who was attempting to draw blood, and when he missed the vein, he just started digging around for it, until I finally shouted at him “don’t keep digging around in there-pull the damn needle out and start again!” For the next several days my arm looked like I’d splashed beet juice all over my arm, with some boogers ground into it as well.

I actually sort of knew the eye taste correlation. Fruit loops, skittles and some other sweet sugary treats often in fact all the different colours taste the same. But because we associate different colours with different flavours. Jelly Belly jelly beans often however do not have colours that we associate with certain flavours. And because of this, sometimes it is hard to tell what tbe actually flavours are supposed to be. Which is why the put a list on the packaging with the colour(s) of the beans and what it is supposed to taste like. Then there is this whole thing that most flavourings don't actually even taste anything like what the flavour of the actually item is supposed to taste like, yet we believe and recognize that grape flavour taste like grapes and strawberry flavour taste like strawberries, for example when the often taste nothing like the real item. Try it. Buy an item you really think tastes like grapes, cherries, and strawberries. And buy actually grapes and strawberries. With your eyes closed, eat a strawberry then taste one of the glasses of the flavours. Chances are your brain will struggle to identify what flavour you drank. Clean your palette and with your eye closed eat a grape, then take a sip of each drink. Make sure you do real strawberry first then real grape. You'll surprisingly will find it harder not easier to figure out which drink was grape. I chose these two because grapes and strawberries taste nothing a like. Citrus fruits taste too similar to begin with and have similar smell and textures as do apples and pears, various berries. You want something that are clearly different in size, texture, smell etc.

When it comes to our eyes, being able to have a sense of taste, and it connected to taste, the crazy thing is if presented with opportunity there’s a chance that I would really give up my sense of taste, especially if it meant I could regain my eyesight I know it sounds extreme and I had always thought I was just like fine at this point with the fact that my eyes it’s deteriorating and I’m officially legally binding only but I’m not fully blind someday but if by some great miracle, I could get my eyesight back in from but not losing my sense of taste. There’s a chance I would take that. Because then, at least maybe I could eat healthier too and that all the healthy food that I feel taste horrible won’t make a difference. I’d be eating the healthy food because I won’t be tasting what I feel is nasty tasting, but I won’t taste a thing and also give me a chance to eat healthier food without Hunt Road about the taste of it, and so maybe I could shred a few pounds as well Constant nightmares in people who are sighted people who are born by the people who lost their I say overtime I get it. I’m specially losing my eyesight since I was like well my whole life I only found out about the disorder that causes me to lose it when I was 8 1/2 Note, I’m pushing 31 now and as I’ve gotten older and my site has gotten worse, I’ve noticed a difference in my dreams and everything from when I was young and I said yeah I don’t mean like a young kid but I mean even my teenage years in early 20s since I was officially diagnosed as legally blind at 23 since then I have noticed the real difference in my dreams and nightmares and all that on them living proof of it but now I’m curious to know more I’m gonna ask some of my sighted friends with good vision/perfect vision was like for them along with other people I know who are what we call in the black community partially cited they don’t wanna ask the people I know who are fully blind, but lost it later in life, as well as the people I know who are born, blind, or became fully find out extremely young ages because now I am really quite curious on how that affects the dreams/nightmares

As a child I was told to put my big toes together before getting a shot! Amazingly, it worked! I told my kids the same thing! But I also had plastic surgery on my ear from 8 years old for a couple of years! Born without an ear on the right side due to Thalidomide! I’m so used to shots now I just don’t think about it!

Heart transplant recipient here. I can confirm that there are definite changes, especially culinary. There are personality changes too, but is that because of cellular memory, or could it be the trauma caused by having the transplant 🤔

Expressions affect emotions: I just passed a women & Children hospital with a sign for a subsection: Maternal Expressions. My mind went wild! But it turned out to be a lactation clinic. Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket? I checked--it's there!

If my internal clock slows down as I get older, wouldn't the days seem longer? They seem shorter. My first 20 years seemed way longer than the last 40.
