my gf has adhd and she’s always struggled waking up. one thing that helps her is giving herself a lot of time before having to actually get ready. she wakes up at about 5:30 and works at eight so she has what she says “ramp up time to watch cartoons”

I always had that problem too! The short way to fix it is to get an app that makes you to tasks when you set an alarm so your brain instantly wakes up too :) (I use alarmy & highly recommend!)

this makes sense to me. I used to wake up at 5 then take my time making breakfast and watching some comfort show while i get ready to leave at 7 and it did make me function a lot better, i could never understand how my friends woke up 30 min before they were supposed to leave

i live in a semi-rural area, and i once watched a guy swerve to intentionally hit a turtle. i stopped to check on it (it was dying painfully). it was actually a protected turtle in my state so I called the police and gave them my dashcam footage. Apparently the fine was so expensive the guy had to sell his truck. Fuck him to the max.

Kendahl, have you looked into "delayed sleep phase syndrome & adhd"? I have crippling adhd & waking up before 10am is just...it's a No for my body personally. I'm lucky to work in a field where I can accommodate that, but I realize that's not realistic for everyone.

Kendahl! Stick with your healthy habits, you’re doing fantastic❤️ in a few weeks, your ritual will be habit and you’ll feel amazing! Go you!! ADHD makes waking up very hard, and I’m sure Lupus and sleep apnea make it doubly so.

I wanna start swimming again as an exercise. I used to do that when I was a preteen and a teen but then I got too busy trying to keep up with homework to keep up being on the swim team at my school.

Jobs dictated my waking schedule in the past; teaching and at a donut shop I woke up early early, then I’ve worked service industry and evening jobs that last past midnight! But generally I’m a morning person

I have the hardest time waking up too, so I tape my concerta (adhd med) to my phone, over the snooze button, so I can do it while practically asleep.

I work at a dispensary and people want the cheapest eighth of weed they buy it then return it in complete shock that it’s not the best quality or how could we even sell this because compared to the 60$ ones the 13$ is less nice. I really don’t understand

I understand the sleep thing, but as someone with ADHD and Anxiety. It is just simply tiring to exist as someone with ADHD with all the things going on in your brain and body or Anxiety where your body is often in a type of “danger” mode and that also takes a lot of energy. I could sleep for 13 hours easily. I work 10-5 and it’s so difficult for me to get up and leave my bed for my 30 minute commute. I don’t know why waking up is so hard, maybe it’s because of the obligation to wake up at that time and not necessarily that I just want to do it? It’s also just so safe and comfy
