Just a tip to try steve, when I'm cutting tank metal I have a tall container of light oil nearby. Dip the blade in it every minute or so. Cools the blade and it will cut even faster.

My dad and I cut one of these up once using a grinder. We ground the welds off on the end caps and popped them right out, then ground the seam on the middle section. Nothing was actually cut, only the welds were ground apart. We uncoiled the whole center section and straitened it into a flat sheet. Part of it was hand bent into channel stock for a boat trailer frame. The rest was all hand bent and welded into a bed frame for a portable sawmill. Lots of steel in one of those!

Why can't you just burn the schmag out of the tank
@chrisgraham2904
4 жыл бұрын
The purpose of cutting up the tank is usually to create clean manageable sections that can be carried out of a basement. I assume you realize you can't burn the "schmag" out of the tank in the basement. If it's an outdoor tank or if you know a couple of gorillas who can carry a full intact tank out of the basement, then you just have to load it into a pick-up truck and haul it to a metal recycler. In this case, there is no reason to cut up the tank or burn anything off.
