Kids at this age enjoy adventures that break from their normal routine. I knew when you were rebuilding Sloe Patrol that their future visits would fascinate them. It’s even better if they can wander off on another boat ….it’s all “discovery. They will in fact be talking about this to their friends and spouses well into adulthood and beyond. One thing I did notice was the absence of strong winds ….as you might recall was the case… at North Kilworth Warf. As “Aussie Boater” noted in one of his vlogs: “The only thing that the wind is good for on a Narrowboat is…drying clothes”. 🥂 …as always Captain Jamer. Canada’s Eastern Seaboard 🇨🇦👍

I like the way "Slow Patrol" has a face. It's a little like a bulldog. It's somehow rather appropriate, don't you think? It's great that the kids get along well, and that you have helped create community for yourself and the kids. Aside from losing phones, it's living the dream!

And here I thought the most dangerous thing about the title "wild swimming in the canal" was Weil's disease. Yikes! Locks are where deaths happen... :-P I'd have just written the phone off.

Hats off to Rob for getting in the water, I was really hoping he’d find it after that great effort. Ex military man say no more. The diesel at Winkwell is very reasonably priced, good place to top up. I’ll say it as no one else as mentioned it, why is your mate moored on the lock landing?

Hi James :-) - mate, you were wrong about when the first red phone boxes come into existence - you said 1922. The first K2 telephone box was introduced to the London streets in 1926 - Four years out James, and it was odd how you sort of conjured up that date in passing one lol :-)

Hats off to Rob for the recovery attempt. It was a risky call. After losing my phone when I fell in earlier this year I can testify how bloody annoying it is to lose your phone in that way and how scary it is being in the water. The ladder at the back of the boat is a fantastic idea.

It's not what you've got, it's how you use it, James. Bigger isn't always better. ;o) Having some new friends is good for kids, and they generally behave better than when left to their own devices. Have a good one, mate.

Robs lucky not to have sliced has foot open let alone possible Weil's disease. If you drop it in the lock forget about it or get a sea searcher magnet. The risks really outweigh the benefits. That being said, fair play I know plenty of people (loonies) who would do the same 😜. Also as a matter of interest do you do engine checks before firing up? Is it a Lister?

James I just got a post from Venetian marina of a dutch barge narrow boat that had a very interesting layout for the stern deck that has a drop down deck that covers the stairwell steps so you don't fall down in the stairwell might be adaptable to your boat for safety when you enter from that side of your boat the boat is called Tea & Oranges. If you need any other info just ask and l could forward that info. How is your weather we are getting drowned here right now we have had about 195-200 mm of rain since Friday night time to build an arc or buy a narrow boat .Best regards Neil.

Wow, looked like a cold dip in the drink! Got me wondering of ways to somehow secure a phone. Those things are expensive! They’re not banning coal, they’re banning traditional house coal. It doesnt apply to low-smoke or smoke free coal like what we on Narrowboats use.
@MsVanorak
2 жыл бұрын
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt strewth the new coal is pathetic. someone i know has just had to start using those nugget things on an open house fire and i noticed how feeble they are as soon as i walked in the room. probably better in a multi fuel stove as the metal surface area is greater but nevertheless. he's hoarding his remaining stash of traditional coal now!
