Subed just by seeing those hand holes.. finishing the video did not disappoint. Tons of info.. Thanks for sharing.

Good job. Nowadays folk forget that wood is a great building material for all sorts of things. You would be a handy person to have around if things ever went South.

Very nice -- yes, the turn key battery packs such as BattleBorn or Big Battery are really expensive. I will be doing this next year when I start adding the camper section of of my Toy Hauler Camper Cheers

John, I have been enjoying your build videos for some time now and am amazed at your depth of knowledge over many disciplines, your craftsmanship and your attention to detail. Kudos! I noticed that the bottoms of the sides of your battery box are fixed to the base board with kreg screws. Do the threaded rods merely hold the sides tight against the battery to prevent swelling rather than actually applying a compressive force? I am aware of the differences in opinions about whether the cells need to be compressed with the forces set forth in the manufacturer’s specs vs. merely being held firmly in place to avoid swelling. I am in the process of building my battery box and am confused about construction methods and how much pressure to apply. Thank you!

Those rods are basically used to just hold the batteries in place. I don't believe that I need to use compression to make my cells last longer. Like Will Prowse is always saying, the cells will die from calendar aging before they will be degraded because of too many cycles. My battery is a year old and it probably has only 2 cycles on them yet! I wouldn't get too caught up in compression schemes, don't see any need for it. Thanks for the kind words and good luck with your build.

What would you say you are in to this for, $-wise? I'm guessing Batteries + BMS + misc material around $1000? (I didn't see what you used for buss bars) - EDIT: Sorry, rewatched it, you said $600. I missed it the first time. I'd like to know where you got your batteries. Sounds like a great price. Does this BMS include a temperature monitor, for cold Temps? I live in Michistan and this is a concern of mine. Thanks for the tip on the HP power supply. To bad the guy that showed the mod isn't making vids. He seems to be a wealth of knowledge. I can't wait to see your update after using these battery for awhile. - Saw this vid posted in Cargo Trailer/Toy hauler group. Thanks for the info, nice build. I like these kind of videos that don't go into finite detail!! EG: "Here's how to cut the radius of the plywood side wall", "Here is how to hold a screw gun..", etc. Right to the point. Thanks again!

Yes, it has a low-temp cutoff. Go to the DIY Solar forum and look for the thread on Group Buy. A fellow named Michael is helping folks over there navigate the minefield which is buying batteries on Alibaba. Batteries came with double buss bars. Thank you for the comments.

@@johntalbert8227 YES, Minefield is a good explanation. I am pretty technically savvy. But this lithium battery thing is just so sparatic, it's hard to know where to jump in. Thanks for the forum tip, I'll check it out. -subcribed here, looking forward to your updates. -Cheers from Michistan. (Formally know as Michigan, prior to communist rule.)

Hi John, your new battery pack is very impressive. I've been wanted to order it myself, but what is going on around the world today and especially in China, did you have any issued when placed the order or any problem with shipping and the time it takes to ship it to you since it is from AliExpress? I'm not going to place the order until I hear back from you Sir! Thank you

I did not place my order on AliExpress. I bought mine thru a group buy on the DIY Solar Power Forum.

Hey John this is an unrelated question but on your mini split have you had any issues with it and did you run a seperate ground from the condenser to the frame? I'm doing the same thing on the battery but I decided to run a 24V system which gives me a 6.7 kw battery.
