Fwiw, Fusilier battalions of the line bore a dustinguishing white ring on their shako covers. That cover provided the iconic Prussian look of course. Really enjoyed the video and seeing Peter Gilder's Hinchliffe skirmishers especially.

They look magnificent parading in masse - chips, gloss, sculptor differences all stop mattering at a reasonable distance. Adding the date of completion on the unit labels gave those stands an extra bit of historical interest.

Truly massive army sir. Kudos to your dedication in paying tribute to one of the finest armies of the 19th century. I just read Napoleons Struggle for Germany 1813 by Leggiere and found myself awed by the resilience and tenacity of the Prussians. They suffered great hardships and deprivation yet found the strength to toss Napoleon back across the Rhine. Their bravery at Leipzig I found especially incredible. Congratulate yourself on a job extraordinarily well done. Large armies done with care are not terribly common.

Depending on your interests whether you want to join a gaming club you might want to create units or armies that others don't have. Once you start it becomes a commitment of years to really follow through but is worth the effort. Many gamers are changing to epic scale so choice of scale is important too. A large 28mm will take you many times longer than a 12mm army.
@NicGamz
Жыл бұрын
@@davidcollins2648 Epic scale does not capture the same " feeling/immersion " as 28mm in my opinion. But sure is faster to get a big army with epic. I will start with some " few boxes " and see how deep I fall into the pit of Napolionics. 😀👍

An excellent collection Fraser. My Prussians are my largest force for the Napoleonic period. I actually did organise them into brigades of three regiments of three Battalions each. Giving a total of 27 Battalions, all based as yours are for good old Grand Manner. Mine are mostly Calpe as well. Must get round to photographing them some day.

The figures at 7:42 look like very old Minifigs to me as the stance of the officer is similar to one I had for my old Poles. If so, they would have been the 6 1/2p to 7p price range in the 1970s. The firing figures are also similar to the Minifigs 95th Rifles of that era.
@vonketteringham

Hmm,had a feeling that they may have been Minifigs S range but then names like Garrison pop up!🤔

Yes, the 1970s Minifigs. Their AWI range were the first figures I purchased in 1974 for 29 cents US each. I only ever bought them in small numbers in those days being a high schooler. But, those were fun days!

Would you recommend any in particular? Id love to start playing the game but currently don't, as it isn't played that much around my area that I know of.

Are they Elite miniatures? I often found that gamers and collectors often overlooked the elite units in the Prussian army of the period and only Calpe and AB did exclusive elite unit figures( Grenadiers) I dont know of any of the main manufacturers who did Prussian Guards etc.
