In this video, I will teach you how to make a 2D platformer in Unity. This video is the third part of 2D platformer tutorial series. It will cover something pretty different: the basics of camera following and making your camera follow your player. The tutorial is very short and super easy. Yeah, it is a very short tutorial! Only three lines of code in this video can create a big improvement compared with the previous video.
I was making this video shortly before I went on my summer holiday. There was not enough time to make a longer video, so I had to record something that will be very short, but informative. This video, on the other hand, only consists of a basic camera script that is attached to your player. The script has to be added to the Main Camera because that object should have its own script that can call the function to look at the Player in Unity.
The X and Y values are defined as the offset of the camera movement. Make sure to set some optimal values if you want the camera to work perfectly. The slope material is a 2D physics material for the rigidbody, which hasn't been mentioned in the previous video...
This video is also a perfect entry for the future of 2D game development, especially if you need to get the camera functionality to work. The camera movement script in C# is a perfect example of what you can make as a beginner in Unity.
I have been making a break of Unity tutorials and it is time to do something new: 2D platformer that I used to work on last month. These tutorial series are still going to be part of the channel, but only for some specific 2D platformer needs. There will be other kinds of games, which will make this channel have multiple projects at once.
