Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and soon, the Next Generation Car!
Huge thunderstorms have been coming though the region over the past few days and more forecast later this week, but despite this and the muddy condition, Giga Texas production and construction continues moving forward with progress and changes.

The video introduction covered many highlights and significant updates that will affect Giga Texas going forward, including the production ramp of the Cybertruck and 4680's, including a breakthrough in dry cathode manufacturing.
We also hear updates and timelines for the next few vehicles which will be produced at Giga Texas starting early 2025, the Robotaxi which will include the new "unboxed" process and it was announced the Optimus Robot will be built in large numbers at Giga Texas starting late 2025 and into 2026. We also got an update on the Robotaxi event will be held on 10 October, 2024.
In addition, Tesla's 2Qtr financial report had a significant Easter egg in this image titled “coatings shop”! Earlier this month, the new TKS modular e-coating system came online & the obvious indication is the black coating on the Cybertruck bodies versus the earlier gold. I saw this during my tour, but could not tell you about it until now. This is a big deal because the Cybertruck line & parts no longer share the Model Y e-coating system, improving efficiency, streamlining production lines & building capacity. Now you know!
Some other significant highlights for today include:
The Boring Company is rapidly installing the road surface concrete sections today, making significant progress! Based on my observations, this work should proceed extremely quickly as the installation is straightforward and does not require fasteners or additional steps. Indeed, at least 50% of the liners have already been moved inside the tunnel. Following the road surface installation inside the tunnel, the next step will be the front end caps for both ends of the tunnel and then preparation for operation.
On the south end of the extension, the tunnels are getting forms and rebar, extending the tunnel outward from the perimeter grad beam almost to the silt fence by the Cyberpond. It looks like the tunnel tops are at the same height as the perimeter grade beam ... this gives us a clue as to what the final surface height of this end of the building will be once completed.
On the north end, conduit installation is nearing completion and now crews are busy running wires through the installed conduit, from the south end of the electrical switchyard all the way south to the casting machine section.
The east side of the casting section shows more work on the north clearing, with a mud base, conduit and more saw cutting underway. At the galvanized steel structure for the baghouse filtration plant, we see more concrete has been poured and forms removed, additional fan unit equipment installed on the north end and the very tall filtration unit assembly on the south end.
Much more to see and talk about today, so check out the images and the video coming up! Thank you for your continued support.
