I'm really grateful that I happened to be the right age, mid teens, when grunge changed the music world. I can imagine the teens who saw Hendrix feel the same way about that time, too. These revolutionary moments happen in music very rarely, it's like a rebirth, and I feel like you need to be of a certain age to be able to appreciate it fully.

@@ct5625 I totally agree with you C. Between 1980-1990 I was the age of 11-21. The beginning of the decade was huge for hard rock. It started with my all time favorite band & album, AC/DC Back in Black & in the next few yrs it was another AC/DC album FTATR & Ozzy & Van Halen, they both had a couple of great albums come out. And then what hit the music scene was something no one could've ever predicted- Hair Metal. Don't get me wrong I dug it I'm a rocker at heart always have been always will be. Went to a lot of concerts in the 80's & had a fuckin blast at each one & would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

The lead singer definitely had that beautiful anger about him at the time of this album, but shortly after some fans died at one of their concerts, got squished to death, and that took away his luster. Another favorite from this album is JEREMY, about a boy who commits suicide in front of the class. Its video got censored on MTV right quick. The last few seconds of the original video showed him with a gun in his mouth, and then the camera pans to the frozen class, all covered in blood spatter. But again, I've only seen that version of the video once or twice late at night, though I remember it vividly, because MTV censored it pretty quickly after it came out. Might have had something to do with the Columbine murders too which were around the same time. Heartbreaking song though..

I started listening to popular music with the advent of the Beatles, so I am a peer, I'd imagine. I went right on listening to the rock and roll of the day through the decades, and still do. There is some truly great music being made still. Strangely, my Gen X children, like popular auto tuned hits of the day, though they used to sing along with Pink Floyd when little.

Eddie was a wild man during concerts in his early days; he really wanted to show that he'd go as far as he had to for his art. But over the years, he's become a very sensitive soul, tending towards nostalgia and sentimentality. He's getting older, and has seen so many of his friends/grunge peers die so tragically and so young. It's beautiful and heartbreaking to see him talk about the late great Chris Cornell, because he saw Chris as his mentor and best friend. And it's beautiful to see a man become more tender hearted with age. And I loved the wild man that Eddie Vedder was as a twenty something. But I LOVE the tender hearted man he's become.

Have you two reached to Hunger Strike by Temple of the Dog? Fronted by Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) and Chris Cornell.

Please react to Pearl Jam's "Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town" - one of the prettiest songs I've ever heard.

I'm surprised the wrestling granny didn't recognize this song as WCW ripped this song off as Chris Jericho's theme
