Well explained but not that simple what makes it a challenge is 1 from machine to machine the amps differ a little and youre traveling speed that is crucial and even knowing that the amps and landing will work for you or not like me a prefer a 3.2mm rod with 3.2 mm root face and root gap or 2.4mm rod with 2.4mm root face and gap at 85amps so the speed im traveling at wont be the same because look at the amps but you give a good starter guide even that you sound nervous but you know youre stuff bud

To slow, causes too much heat to build up, and if you're not careful you can leave more inclusions if heat and travel speed aren't right. Weaving done right gives you more control of metal deposited and better control of residual heat buildup, and a more proportional cap foundation. Practice, practice, practice. 👍

@@MH-WM weaving is slower than stringers. If you have "more control" doing one or the other than stick to that, they both accomplish the same things. I would agree that weaving can be more efficient if done well, but takes a lot more practice to consistently do properly. To each their own.

I went and tried again, and my cap was 100% better than the first time but my root must’ve been worse than the first time because my first piece broke completely in half. I had to repair the root on the second one a few times so I’m assuming that’s why. So I’m gonna practice and then go try again one day in the future. Extremely awesome and helpful video. I'm having trouble 2G with my Root 6010. Having trouble reading the puddle and figuring out how far to "push" out of my keyhole, but I'm going to try touching the forward-most edge of it, and I'm going to go back and touch the edge of my puddle when I see signs it's starting to cool too much. One part of the video, around the 13min mark, you're talking about how one of your 7018 passes didn't fill to the top edge. I have this problem a LOT in Vertical/Uphill. I was REALLY hoping you'd explain how you were going to fill it, but you cut away. Awesome video all around though, thank you!

This is late, but you actually do want the rod to touch the base metal during the root pass. If you're burning hot enough it won't stick and it won't go out.
@seanolivares9738

The way he does itb if you want solid penetration you're actually pushing in at the top of the keyhole so hit the top and somewhat push it in until it "gives" once it does, whip back down and let it fill for a second just a second and then push back up at the top of the keyhole. Hes the first person ive seen use this method and now its actually my preferred method for open root uphill with 6010. Pretty damn effective. Just make sure you find the right heat for the right gap and landing, otherwise your keyhole is gonna get huge.
