I said this elsewhere. She had serious daddy issues. If it wasn't Snider, it would have been someone else that caused her harm. @janeaparis

@@josephmassaro You are absolutely right. No one deserves to be murdered over daddy issues, and in fact you could turn it around and say that those men had mommy issues. If you have to use other people to get success, then there are probably issues. I think it is using someone to sexually exploit them. Granted we are all needing of others to some extent, and need connections, but in big ways you could say those men were feeding off of her, not the other way around. I guess that is all a matter of perspective. Whether you see it as daddy issues or mommy issues. We also live in a sexist world, so the playing field isn't exactly even, or has not been, maybe things are changing a little. A little.

Let me get this straight: Bogdanovich blamed Hefner and the Playboy Culture for Dorothy's death, Hefner blamed Bogdanovich because of the affair that led to her tragic demise, Bogdanovich married her younger sister (who had the same age as Dorothy when she died btw), Hefner said that Snider had a "pimp like quality"... can everyone see the laughability in this? Dorothy was killed by Snider, but she was doomed from the start because of older men who used her for her money and body. All these creep and pimp-like men are responsible for her death.

I find the blame game the men in Stratton's life were playing to be ridiculous. She had serious daddy issues, which meant it was highly likely she would end up with a man or men that were potential problems for her. All three men in the video intentionally or unintentionally tapped into her issues. As far as her career. I don't see it. She's like a Bo Derek. Nice to look at, but no real talent. I think Bogdanovich's attempt to memorialize her last film was probably out of a combination of guilt and mourning. It's a tragic end.

In my book Bogdanovich and Hefner DO bear some responsibility for Stratten's death, because they both had more than enough money, lawyers and 'muscle' to pay off Snider and get him permanently out of her life. Instead they allowed her to make the incredibly naïve, fatal decision to go round his place alone to 'sort things out'. They both took what they wanted, without taking any responsibility.

Bogdanovich and Hefner were creepy, 40s-50s wealthy older guys in positions of power who used Dorothy for their own purposes. I'd say Bogdanovich has a lot to answer for in particular because he was causing her to cheat on her lawful husband while apparently making no attempt of any kind to protect her from someone who was widely known to be a troubled figure. Bogdanovich's attempt to market her movie probably has more to do with guilt feelings than love. Peter Bogdanovich is exactly why people think Hollywood celebrities are scumbags.

They were both sentenced to life for 1st degree murder by a jury and the judge recommended no parole. The question is who were liberal judges, attorneys, and parole board that decided to set them free? According to SJW nut jobs being churned out by our marxist schools and universities, imprisonment is wrong anyway so who is really to blame? The illegal immigrant who murdered Kate Stein in front of her father in CA was acquitted and set free, or did you forget that already? Victim being gay and latino had nothing to do with the weak justice system. If you have watched other Criminally Listed videos, you will notice that there is a disturbing theme when it comes to most of these murders and rapists -- they are not serving much time in many of these cases. When your courts afford the criminals more rights than the victims, this is result.

I've known about the details of Dorothy Stratten's death for quite some time now, but every time I hear about it it makes me incredibly sad. It feels like everyone around her was just using her, for her body, for her money, or both. It seems like she didn't really have anyone in her corner who was looking out for what was best for her, everyone around her was just concerned with what they could get from her. She was a beautiful young woman with a lot of potential, but now she's just a cautionary tale. So, for all of you young women (and men) who think you might seek out a career as an actor, model, singer, etc., remember that it can all go so very wrong. If you want to pursue those dreams, then go for it. But please be smart. There are a lot of users and abusers in those industries that prey on young, naive people who are desperate for a big break. Make sure you have someone in your corner who cares about YOU as a person, not your body, your looks, your earning potential, or the doors that your fame could potentially open for them, but YOU, the human being, the soul.

Well put! This is harshly true for many beautiful, talented yet naive women in the film industry who get used, abused and tormented for years throughout their career. Tbh industry is filled with scumbags who don't give two hoots about these young women. I felt even that Robert guy who claimed to have loved her didn't care much about her. Or else, he would never have married her sister.

Well said!! The fact of the matter is that the killing of women by their partners or spouses continue to be a problem in America and women don’t have the resources to gain help for PD’s across the country. It’s always the same story, we will issue a protective order once he’s done something against the law, and a majority of the time, it much too late for the women and possibly their children. Until there are laws that support women of domestic abuse, nothing will change. As a victim myself, I was told the same thing, but I forced the officer to take down a report because he told me that my ex would stop harassing and stalking me. No protective order, but I moved out in the middle of the night when I knew he wouldn’t be stalking out my apartment.

@@humayrafaizah1428, she did put it beautifully but even when women have someone close to them, they still take advantage of their daughters, look at Brooke Shields as an example and Drew Barrymore, they were both abused by the their mothers and taken advantage of. Hell, look at Britney Spears! The sad fact is that there are those around then with ulterior motives, and they are not good for the girls/women.

I loved Adrienne shelly's previous film "Sudden Manhattan" so much and it was a very special film for me. I was so shocked to hear the news of her passing. Because of the original story the suspect (don't want to mention his name) gave to the police (of her complaining about the noise he was making) there were many people blaming her for her death. It was really sad. Before the whole story was revealed the film Waitress got released and there was a promotion in North America for free screenings. I went to see the movie and about mid way I just started crying. By the end of the movie when her daughter in real life appeared and walked away with the main character of the film I was sobbing. It is a lovely yet bittersweet film. It is just so tragic how she was removed from this world. She was so talented and had a bright future.

Another great video. Dorothy Stratton was so beautiful and talented. I remember when this happened because I was a fan of hers and her birthday was very close to mine. She was manipulated and abused. Both movies about her were really good as well. If you haven’t seen them, give them a watch.

Thank you for shedding light on the senseless killing of Adrien Shelly! She was gorgeous and talented! I have seen Waitress few years back and loved it through and through. Her writing was impeccable and a testament to her brilliance. So sad her life was cut short for some delinquent didn't wanna go to jail! Hollywood could have utilized her talent!

Waitress is one of my favorite movies. The toddler they used in the movie was actually Shelly's daughter. The ending is so heartbreaking when you know what happened to Shelly. Its supposed to be a happy sweet ending but it's more sad than happy. It gives me chills every time I watch it. Anyone who hasn't seen it you should definitely check it out.

So tragic 😢. JAmie lee Curtis did a great job in my opinion playing her in the move. I never have seen the star 80 yet. Also so tragic about Adrienne Shelly’s murder as well. 😢
