I'm using Oppo and most of the features are the same, but what I like most is that you can swap your finger at the edge of the phone and bring down all your apps on your home screen into one place under your thumb finger and then move your thumb over any app and release your finger to launch that particular app

It's incredibly bad you just probably never experienced the original Oxygen OS. Everything has an animation now, transitions, useless effects, that even though they're fluid, they take time and the phone is suddenly much less responsive. In fact, before, I couldn't operate the phone fast enough so that I would have to wait for something. Currently I need to wait for the icon to "finish the fancy animation" to be able to click on it. That's just bloat, it slows you down for no reason other than fanciness. For people hating on this, the lack of gimmicks and a blazingly fast system was important. If it's not that important for you, that's fine, but don't be surprised we hate this. For me it felt so bad that I actually went the extra mile to downgrade to a previous version, not yet based on ColorOS

@@geuros I did have oxygen OS on my op6. I will agree with you on the fact that it felt smoothing out of the box. However, I've had the op11 now for about 6 months, and I have yet to really complain about it. My biggest complaint about op11 was the price was flagship...

As someone on the outside looking in, the OnePlus fan base seems to find joy in complaining. When you lose your mind over something as meaningless as an alert slider missing or other picky issues, I think it might be time to put your fandom aside to take a step back and consider what average consumers actually care about.
@TravisTerrell
Жыл бұрын
This is clearly just bait, but I guess I'll take it. 2 points: Looking at the phone through the lens of uniqueness, it's hard to call the slider meaningless. It's been a defining characteristic of OnePlus from the start, and remained through the years. When most phones follow trends and are effectively clones of each other, even seemingly small features like that seriously differentiate a phone. And to put the fan base's strong emotion into greater perspective, it's worth noting that in many ways, the fan base really made the phone. It was only available for sale by invitation from a current user for a LONG time--which naturally created a strong fan base. Beyond that, a sizeable part of the development through the proceeding years was driven in part by users. So when the modern version of the company seemingly makes an abrupt turn, it's a pretty stark contrast to how things used to be. You'll probably still be annoyed, but hopefully this can somewhat explain the fan base.
@hman1801
Жыл бұрын
@@TravisTerrell No I'm not annoyed, it's all good. Thank you for the insight on the fan base. The phones have definitely become more generic but there are two sides to every coin and perhaps to a wider audience the uniqueness is not what sells a phone but maybe instead price and simply how good of a phone is it? The OnePlus 11 at $699 is cheaper than every model of Samsung's Galaxy S23 lineup and competes quite well for that price.
@TravisTerrell
Жыл бұрын
@@hman1801 Thanks for reading all that and taking the time to respond! Yeah, that's a decent point for sure. Mainstream consumers are unlikely to view these differentiating factors as essential factors. I think that is kind of at the crux of the fans' complaints. A very consumer-focused brand is pivoting to emphasizing profitability (I guess?) over their traditional fan-focused model. You mention the price, and yeah. I think the Nord phones are awesome for fulfilling a low-price niche really well... If only they had maintained the core differentiating points on the flagship models. As a fan, it's been really disheartening. Not sure if you were a fan of the Nexus series, but when it was discontinued OnePlus did an awesome job for me of replacing the niche it created, which was when I became a real fan. Fairly stock Android, no locking things down, budget price. (The last point dropped off a while back, though...)

By enlarging the folder you actually use up more home screen space. I prefer my folders normal size so I can fit more apps in one page
@AuraMaster_7
7 ай бұрын
In what way is putting a 3x3 folder into a 2x2 space "losing space"? It's a way to have more apps on the homescreen that you don't have to tap into a folder to open up.
@fahd3228
5 ай бұрын
@AuraMaster_7 Enlarging the folder uses up more space on the homescreen area , hence the name ENLARGE . The only benefit from this feature is being able to see the apps as opposed to having them inside a normal sized folder . So smaller folder means better utilization of the homescreen area the only downside is if you need to access the app it's two steps (1) open the folder (2) choose and open the app. With the large folder mode it's one click only
