Very helpful, especially the tip about using your thumb to keep your hips square and the roll up with the manuals. I always look forward to Sundays when your video comes out since It’s my skate day 🎉

Can you make a video on back stepping? Back cross pulls going backwards switching sides? The backstep in the downtown?

I see the first one so often! The feet go with the body, but people try and force it the other way, focus on their feet too much

Here I am wondering if it was my recent inquisition on backwards manuals that sparked part three of this video. What do I do at the rink? I only ever try something tricky and/or risky if it's a quiet session (that I will one day not have access to), mainly because I am nowhere near bendy enough to see where I'm going backwards - and if I have to keep my hips straight, I can't even look directly *sideways* (my neck turns about 45° in each direction at most). So it's just a case of "look around, wait for a break in the traffic so I'm fairly sure there's nobody behind me once I'm rolling backwards, and... up on two, and hold it as long as possible, and hope that nothing gets in my way that I can't see..." 95% of the time this works. I was trying to film some backwards-rolling moves the other day and crashed into the camera.

You definitely need a spotter. Is there anyone at the rink you can get to be your eyes? So you can roll backwards square?

@@Skatie There are plenty of potential candidates, but they're also working on their own improvements. Still, I'd do the same for them, so it can be a mutual thing.
