These are by far the best Dal recipes we came across. Easy to make and very tasty, try it and let us know how it turns out.
Ingredients:
Masoor Dal
4 cups water
1 cup masoor dal
1 garlic clove sliced
1 tbsp sliced onion
¼ tsp turmeric
½ tsp salt to taste
3-4 green chili
Tarka
2 tbsp cooking oil
2 dry red chilies
2 tbsp sliced onion
2 garlic cloves sliced
Garnish
2 tbsp fresh chopped coriander
[A] Instructions:
1. Cook the masoor dal in a pot until soft with 2 cups of water, garlic, onion, turmeric, salt and green chili with the lid on
2. Remove lid and pour another 2 cups of water then blend using a handheld blender
3. Prepare tarka by stir frying onion, dry red chilie and garlic until crispy golden brown then transfer it to the pot of dal
4. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander
5. Ready to Enjoy!
Cholar Dal
2 cups water
1 cup split chickpeas
1 large bay leaf
2 small cinnamon sticks
3 cardamom
4 cloves
½ tsp garlic paste
½ tsp ginger paste
2 tbsp sliced onion
1 tsp coriander powder
¼ tsp turmeric
½ tsp salt to taste
Tarka
3 tbsp cooking oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
½ cup sliced onion
2 garlic cloves sliced
3-4 green chili
Garnish
2 tbsp fresh chopped coriander
1 tbsp ghee
[B] Instructions:
1. Cook the split chickpeas in a pot until soft with 2 cups of water, garlic, ginger, onion, turmeric, salt, coriander powder, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon sticks and bay leaf with the lid on
2. Prepare tarka by stir frying cumin seeds, green chilies, sliced onion and garlic until crispy golden brown
3. Transfer dal to the tarka pan and give it a stir
4. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander and ghee
5. Ready to Enjoy!
Moong Dal
2 cups water
1 cup moong dal
¼ tsp turmeric
½ tsp garlic paste
½ tsp ginger paste
½ tsp salt to taste
3-4 green chili
Tarka
2 tbsp cooking oil
2 dry red chilies
¼ cup sliced onion
2 garlic cloves sliced
1 large bay leaf
Garnish
2 tbsp fresh chopped coriander
1 tbsp ghee
1 tsp roasted cumin powder
[C] Instructions:
1. Fry the moong dal in dry heat until fragrant then soak in water for 1 hour
2. Cook the moon dal in a pot until soft with 2 cups of water, garlic, ginger, turmeric, green chilies and salt with the lid on
3. Remove lid and blend the dal using a manual stick
4. Prepare tarka by stir frying dry red chilies, bay leaf, sliced onion and garlic until crispy golden brown then transfer it to the dal pot
5. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander, roasted cumin powder and ghee
6. Ready to Enjoy!
