"Rather, it is smarter to master one area before moving on to the next". Yeah, meaning programming and periodization. Pick one modality (hypertrophy, strength or endurance) and give each of them time to grow and master the principles. Lift weights like a true bodybuilder to learn how gain lean tissue as quickly as possible because there really is no other sport that specifically focuses on learning how to control and gain muscle like BB. Powerlift to master core BIG movements (SQ, DL & or BP etc.) and then just pick whatever sport that enables you to increase your cardio / endurance / flexibility levels. Even this Ido Portal style movement training will suffice if you like it enough lol.

@ryanreviews8566
4 жыл бұрын
@@zzureee That's a good sport. You definitely will have to gain incredible lower body flexibility to progress and a good dojo will definitely push you to achieve just that. As for other recommendations, gymnastics is good but it would be best to try any sport out there that you enjoy and fits well with your schedule. Being able to sustain this other valuable side of training is what matters most anyways.

Love the style and freedom you use in your training, there is something artistic and beautiful to some of the movements ... I need to get motivated to train again even though I’m in early 60’s. I’ve trained most of my life but ripped a rotator cuff bug style about 15 years ago. It took approximately 7 1/2 to 8 years before I was able to lift weights again, I had months of waiting before I could have physio, months of deep tissue massages, Cortizone injections, physio sessions where I was taught to use bands to strengthen and help build the muscle up again. Of course, all that time when I couldn’t train, I couldn’t even lift my arm for about nine months, and then I was able to start to gently raise my arm out to the side and forward, but it was still fairly tender and painful. I have put on weight since this period of time, although it’s now starting to come off again thankfully. I have started using kettlebells as more functional style exercise/movements, which I really like, but I do need to try and get motivated into doing more work, I really like the style of exercise which you are showing. Thank you and best wishes, Steve UK

I'm with you. I'm 57, and though I have a no serious injuries, I have had my share of a minor ones. Unfortunately as we age, there are no longer "minor" injuries...everything keeps us out for weeks or months. I pulled my hamstring doing reverse leg curls back in Sept. I could barely walk for 2-3 weeks, and almost 3 months later, it still bothers me and affects my workouts a great deal...that would have been 2 days 30 years ago. So yeah, we have to do what we can, and find ways to workout hard without subjecting our bodies to the perils of heavy lifting. I will never abandon weight training because there are great benefits if done properly. I have, and will incorporate more of this type of training and cut back on the weights. Just remember that this training is no joke. This cat makes it look easy. It is not. We have to start small and master the basics before we are doing any of these moves he is doing. Don't get discouraged if the progress is slow. You can do it. Any exercise program will help you get to where you want to be. Good health and good fortune. Peace!

This was really helpful advice. I've been training in Kung Fu for many years and have also noticed similar attributes that are trained like in this video. There's the flexibility and expressive movement which is it's foundation, then a refinement of those moves through precise strength training, and now I realise from this video the last thing to add is the endurance. As you said, it's a combination of all 3 that allows us to reach the peak potential of our natural capabilities. Thank you very much!

I wanna just say that getting stuck in a routine is definitely an inhibitor to further progress for sure a consideration, but my criticism of that being a criticism is that any routine is better than no routine. @Prabash_Prabhu
4 жыл бұрын
@@forcealpine87 yeah I get it, I had similar experience where I would go to Burger King at night and order burgers fries soda and that was like 2000-2500 calories right there and wake up feeling bloated. Then I realized that i learned that if I create habit of eating breakfast lunch and dinner before 6pm, I would feel full and the urge to eat at night would decrease. Also vitamins, protein drink and water help me with cravings as well as staying away from process foods. However overeating was caused by emotional triggers caused by childhood trauma, anxiety about life, taking on too much stress but I learned to cope through therapy, reflecting through journaling and reading books about nutrition. Also not beating myself up if I break a healthy habit because it is a stressful process, just accepting myself. Those were the key takeaways in regard to diet and overeating
