I seen Jake Adams using some dental picks for getting the bubble algae out the rocks, thought to myself what a great hack, so I ended up getting some and they work great!

Love the show man, never miss an episode! I’m a big believer in dosing live phyto and probiotics to keep nutrients up fwiw. I keep a lot of the old school acros too. Favorite is the pc rainbow. Keep up the great work!

The KP and those GHL’s got you off to a nice start! I had the same Turf on my gulf live rock. I swear to you that a group of Emerald crabs will scrape those rocks clean within 3-4 months. Mine were doing an excellent job before they went for my Acro’s and I had to remove them. Maybe you can get a group that’s not starved like mine were.

Thanks Abe. Yes, I am dosing 6 mls of nitrate/day and 24 mls of phosphate/day. I took my chaeto offline since I started dosing bacteria (Brightwell's MB7 and Clean) and nitrates have been 5.0 and phosphates have been 0 for a few weeks. I do feed the fish 4-5x per day and I am not overly concerned about the 0 phosphate because I know there are phosphates in the tank. I just don't totally trust my test results.

I was literally thinking to myself the other day that we haven’t seen a update on that tank in a while. Keith if you figure out a way to get rid of that red turf algae please share. It’s the only issue I’m having in my tank and I can’t figure out for the life of me how to get rid of it. The only thing that seems to touch it are the Texido urchins I have. But they don’t get into the nooks and crannies and all the SPS are starting to grow in and they’re having a hard time getting in between them. Everybody talks about the more every day algae like bubble like hair etc. But not that red turf algae. So please, please if you figure it out share with us. I know one thing Vibrant doesn’t do anything to it.

Have you tried chemiclean, sound like an imbalance of nutrients in your system
@ProppedNutFPV

No I haven’t. I’ve never tried Chemiclean. I might be mistaken,but isn’t that used for cyano? This definitely is not cyano. It is a very short tough almost maroon turf algae,

Hard to say at this point in terms of growth compared to my halides. Many of the frags are encrusting so I think it will take another year for me to have a definitive answer for u.

Correct. No spores in bubble algae. If there was, emerald crabs and some fish wouldn't be able to get ahead eating them. They have to pop them to eat them
@Alex_Correa
2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely no spores in bubble algae. To clarify, and to let others know why so many worry about that, there is no risk of releasing spores in the water when you pop them for removal.
