It is disappointing that I had to search through so many videos to find one for portable mount. Thank you for this clear and detailed overview--just what I was looking for!!😀

The jaw clamp is an essential piece of kit for me. The only thing I don't like are the set screws to change the orientation of the connector. It means carrying an allen wrench to make field adjustments.

I purchased my jaw clamp because of your video on it in the past. It is a great item to carry.

Some parks frown on putting stakes in the ground or clamping to tables. A good alternative are the larger lighting tripods use for photography and videos. Because they're mass-produced, you can sometimes find them at a good price.

I can see most forms of "clamping" would cause some damage to the table...

Nice demo Kevin, The S&K is bar far the best deal and most versitile of the three, 99.00 is way too steep for small piece of aluminum and a bolt that only gives you one choice of mounting. Thanks for sharing.

Wow! 99.00 for the Chameleon bracket? They and Alpha are pulling a page from the Apple handbook.

That was a very nice comparison of different types of Antenna mount, I have got a couple of the first one that you demonstrated, is was supplied by Chameleon Antenna,I like it but the small L bracket can bend under high wind loading with the 17 foot whip! Thanks for taking the time to make this video, looks like you live in a very nice part of the world! 73 Alex M0KVA

I like this idea of clamping to a picnic table in the park. I’m curious, have you ever checked your SWR when you’re sitting at the table so close to the radiating element? I use a ground stake currently, and have it 25 feet away. People walking nearby negatively affect my SWR. Plus, a metal table can mess up the ground plane. I can’t keep people from walking through my coax and ground plane wires, especially kids. This looks like a possibility.

Thanks for the video Kevin. Question, what frequency would be resonant with the chameleon whip and the S & K Mount?
@hamradiowithkevin

Great question, you can build just about any antenna with that S&K bracket. 10,15 and 20 meters would be easy since that longest you need is 17 feet. After that, you would use coils like buddipple and wolf river does. It makes setup very flexible.

Great video and really enjoy your presentation. I am a very new ham. Learned code n the Navy and enjoy using it Rookie question; I ordered the clamp, of course the the antenna fitting and coax fitting didn’t come with it. That’s cool. I’m wanting to use my AX1 antenna, to relieve pressure from the KX2. I can’t seem to find the fitting that would accommodate the antenna. Assistants greatly appreciated. Keep up the videos. Kevin, good heavens, one of the things that attracted me to your videos over a year ago is how much you are like a darn professional broadcaster. Your voice and presentation are master class in my opinion. I've never had a lick of trouble understanding anything you've said and I'm 66 yrs old. I can only imagine how awful I would sound on a video; just giving credit where credit is due! Thanks for alll your work! Brent VA3YG
