Probably the most underrated guitarist out there, but also a killer singer and musician in general. So glad to see this, you could do 20 more Ian videos and not run out of stuff!

good on u sir! ian thornley deserves the recognition! his slide playing on "albatross" and "overemphasizing" is gold. what he does on "speedy recovery" is on another level. "ladylike", "wolves"! but i think what truly represents him is the solo on "a million days". such a pleasure to listen to him!

Ian channels Jeff Beck, Steve Morse, Eric Johnson & SRV into his playing. But, he is entirely his own unique soloist on his own terms. I have had a man crush on him for the last two years and have not been so excited about a new guitar player in a long time. Great job in covering these awesome techniques and solos - hope to see a lot more from you on this

Just saw Big Wreck in Nashville in October. Killer player. The Suhr party from 2015 is on KZitem and is great. There is also some stuff from the Nashville show I was at on KZitem also. They filmed the whole show.

Ian is a local favourite. I’m happy he’s getting the recognition he deserves. His hybrid picking is fantastic, great slide player, melodic, can rip two full step bends non stop. Thanks for this vid Dave. You remind me of Andy Aldort as well! 🤘

Dave you are THE MAN , WOW thanks for listening to my requests bro !!🙏🙏🙏🤟 Really appreciate it along with everyone else! . Saw big wreck recently both in guelph and hamilton Ontario, front row , we all got blown wide open" the guy and the band altogether are just a full out class act I can confirm it . I think you will love the recent big wreck album they just toured : " but for the sun " if you like intricate song writing and tasteful wood shedding solos like ian does best , then go listen to : *found my place* *one last chance* *you caught my eye* Those are just my pick for the 3 that have riffs and or solos that made me pick up my guitar instantly and attempt to figure out what was going on there. Would love to hear what you think of them ! That last one you caught my eye is technically off of their comeback album : *albatross* though, I think it's the most underrated one from that release. . Btw , I shared this video on the big wreck canada face book- fan page - lots of big wreck lovers out here and most of them are guitar players themselves so expect traffic here on the video and of course your awesome channel/content 😊 . Now that Ian's off the Canadian list, got another underrated 3 to *request* for ya : *pat travers* *Phil X* circa *1989* song:flippin out(Yes he has been on the scene that long!) *Pete Lesperance* harem scarem"had enough just has a wicked intro solo , I feel its Pete's "eruption" if you will - a kitchen sink of his best licks basically in free time leading into the song . Thanks again for all that you do dude it will never go unnoticed by me ! Do you do any Skype lessons at all ?? If so I would definitely be interested .. Thanks and cheers from Niagara falls canada ! 😊🤟 - Adam

If you’re covering underrated Canadian guitarists that have fantastic chops, Kim Mitchell (Max Webster or solo) should be next on your list. Jag Tanna from I Mother Earth also fits this category as well. Also had a lot of great guitar tones that I would say were ahead of their time too.
