Thank you! I’m glad someone finally expressed how I feel about broguing. I get that in a true formal environment, broguing is considered more casual, however, most American workplaces and social gatherings have become so informal that broguing is now considered a more formal element that elevates most people’s wardrobes, instead of making them more casual. By the way, I love broguing, so I’m not arguing against it, I’m simply saying that it’s role has changed in recent years.

While I do get the point, that tan Chelsea boots will draw attention to the lower part of your body, isn't that exactly what white sneakers are doing? Anyway, I think that tan boots work extremely well with light denim, because of the fact that they are a lot more streamline with the whole outfit compared to dark boots

I don't get it... How is tan boots with dark pants too much of a pop, whereas white sneakers are an essential item? I don't like light brown footwear all that much, but that just seems contradictory. Especially since it's often matched with camel coat, which ties the whole look together.

bro half the time they just say things to say them it feels like. LIke light tan boots are to much of an eye soar and stick out to much in an outfit but white/lighter colored shoes arent? I honestly dont think they have an open mind to style actually. LIke they think style is something that is set in stone and their way or no way lol which is not the case what so ever. Style is very personal and can really tell a story. Just like they say Chelsea boots cant be worn by bigger people lmao totally worng in every way but since Ashley says thats right it HAS to be right!

Alden shell cordovan cap toe, Redwing iron rangers, thorogood moctoes, Allen Edmonds for Chelsea boots . Also in my opinion contrasted stitching always looks good with boots unless it's a dress boot. Really no contrasted stitching is a dress boot/dress shoe rule . Contrasted stitching looks great casually, and you can simply tell by a quick glance that something like redwing heritage, or wolverine 1000 mile that it's high quality with contrasted stitching .

The best advice I can give is to understand the seasons and the color wheel. The higher up on the color wheel the closer you are towards colder seasons and the lower you get on the color wheel then more you lean towards hotter seasons. Second rule, for every pair of shoes. Width, I suppose. Besides, the sole might be different - the dress ones would usually have a leather sole, whereas the casuals could have a more practical rubber one. Although those two pairs have both have leather soles, if I'm not wrong. Hardly a good choice for rain and snow though

Broguing is decorative but not formal as they are there to hide scuffs and creases so your boot looks good without a good shine. Nothing wrong with light colors either it’s just a country look and they gain personality with age which black and dark browns wont. A man should not dress like he shops for new shoes all the time, he is supposed to re-sole his shoes for years and years, not throw them away when something trendy comes along.

You can buy these in different colors, such as cherry red (i own a pair of these), blue, green, black (always a good choice, bc they match with every outfit, I own a pair of these too) and other special editions. If you first try DMs you will never want to have other boots.

If you only wear dark boots, typically the rest of your outfit will be dark as well if you don't want your boots to stand out.
