You need to read books for Audible! You have the best voice! We had a “pet” goose growing up and he was MEAN! He would chase us and tackled my cousin! He bit a neighbor too. I had an old pine desk I had bought unfinished, and after years of dealing with its drawer that would go off its channel from time to time, spilling all the contents on the floor, and repainting the legs several times over the years, I bought a NEW parawood single drawer desk from Amazon, and used the following: 1 coat of spray KILZ primer, two coats of Behr's chalk paint in Grecian Garland (a sage green), and three coats of Minwax polyacrylic. Tonight we get to bring it inside from the garage where I did all the painting and sanding, will bolt in the legs and tomorrow set it up with my computer and printer on top. I got a whitewashed oval drawer pull at Hobby Lobby which looks fantastic on the drawer. I was really interested in trying chalk paint, which worked super well to create a very smooth matte surface, but I didn't want to use wax and preferred a satin finish that would be extremely tough and protective. It turned out beautifully. I could also have gotten a quart of latex in a sage green and used that but I wanted to try chalk paint to see what all the fuss is about. Now I have all this paint left and want to see what my grown daughter would say to me painting her bed's head and foot board and perhaps even her night table and bureau. I loved your little treasures re-furbishments. Picture frames are also great smaller projects and our Goodwill has tons of those. You buy one, chuck the yucky artwork, and paint the frame; then substitute some new artwork and voila: a gorgeous new wall piece. Custom frames, mats, and prints are so expensive, at least you can save a ton of money on the frame.

Great video.. thank you..you made me think 🤔 hard before doing my bedroom set..I'm so confused..First I was going to do it in Dixie Bell Anchor silk..I already got my order..now I'm leaning towards a white ..but not to white..and then I see that it is very nice when the entire set doesn't match..idk ..Ughh ..Any advice..I do kinda like all the different colors melange paint has

Thanks Tonia!! Ah yes - tyranny of choice. It makes it hard! Just know that at some point, we all just have to make a choice and move forward, and that you will very likely LOVE whatever you do! Some folks love a more eclectic look, while others prefer a matching set....no right or wrong, so just do what you feel. 😊

I love them all but the wee gold box has me itching to try something. So, what is the name of that gorgeous navy print inside the box?? (Skuze my hubby's pic here...don't know how to get mine up here! LOL)

Thanks, I'm so glad! That wallpaper is so great - I ordered it from Amazon...it's by NuWallpaper and it's called "Groovy Garden". (I used it my first video as well - "The 80's Furniture Flip That Everyone Wanted to Buy" Here's the link! www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JXNKR3D/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Does the big mamas butter waterproof ? Thinking about the coasters.
@FurnitureFablesbyAndy

No, not waterproof, but it does seal wood the to the same extent as any other wax or help oil would. Those coasters I will put some Gator Hide onto. 😊

Hi, is it not possible to partially paint a wood top? I have a table top and I want to add strips of paint. But I’m not sure how to finish it. Do I use varnish or all purpose sealant? Can anyone help?
@FurnitureFablesbyAndy

Hi Farah - it is definitely possible to do that! Varnish is typically used for things that will be outdoors and is a bit trickier to apply than a water-based polyurethane. For great indoor top coats, I would suggest checking out General Finishes or DIxie Belle. I often use Dixie Belle's Top Coat in flat, and when I want something a little tougher, I use their product called Gator Hide. Best of luck!

It always makes me wonder why people coat old furniture with dark brown paint. That is so ugly and just looks so depressing. Your little table worked out so well. It reminded me in shape and style of the Taj Mahal. The wallpaper insert looked so pretty. I would have tried to find some elephants made of wood with flat backs and glued them on, then added antiquing to that area of the table. Any sort of wooden or resin inserts with carving would have looked great too. Some sari silk fabric stapled to the interior in loose pleats that would hang down to the floor and peek through those openings would have made it go totally India boho!

You are so right! My little sis designed that one, I just did as I was told, lol. I thought her vision was so cool - kind of a fusion of styles. 😊

Geese are evil... Unlike this channel! I discovered you looking for how-to videos to redo a bunch of dark wood furniture with even darker memories left after my divorce. I certainly don't have $$ to buy new furniture, and why replace things when I can barely afford particle board? I can relieve stress, learn a new skill with a possibility of a future income, and access cheap art therapy by painting over my past. All in all, not too shabby for a KZitem Video!!

Wow - thank you so much! Love this. Yes to everything you said! So many us relate - somehow the painting and the remaking are therapeutic. Stress relieving, skill building, and a big dose of renewal. And fist bump for geese! 😂🦆
