First episode in Morocco! One enters Morocco illegally... One treads with Falkor a new continent! 10 months after our departure from Switzerland, we are happy to finally feel a real change of scenery! This change of scenery that feels good, this smell of the unknown that whips up all our senses and makes you want to go on an adventure!
At the exit of the ferry, new control before arriving in the city. A customs officer asks us to open our aluminum suitcases but gives up the complete search when he sees our exuberant pyramid. He still slips the fateful question: "you have a drone" that we hasten to deny...
And here we are in Morocco! We are on the African continent, we are in Tangier! It's our 299th day of travel and what better way to celebrate this new hundred days on the road than to completely change scenery, continent, culture, language!
We decide to leave the city fairly quickly and make a quick stop in Tetouan to find a sim card.
Leaving Martil, we decide to take the RN16, the famous road that runs along the coast. We drive for 1 hour and land in Oued Laou for a lunch break, but not only…
Elise guides us through Talassemtane Park. We drive to Akchour then Chefchauen in a setting that literally takes our jaws off for more than an hour.
When you arrive in Chefchauen, you are immediately under the spell of this historic city perched on a hill and surrounded by mountains.
We find Élise in the central square of the Kasbah and set off to explore the blue city.
The next day we decide to retrace our steps a bit by trying an alternative route through the mountains. it goes up super super steep but the view of the valley is once again to die for.
After 30 minutes of driving we arrived in Akchour, we park our motorbike and set off on a hike to discover its waterfalls, gorges, rivers and magnificent viewpoints (and atypical terraces).
The water is translucent and many bars are set up to drink mint tea with your feet in the water. We walk for an hour alone, then accompanied by a young local. The climax of the Rando: the bridge of God at the end of the gorge. The spot is perfect to celebrate with our first Moroccan mint tea.
Back in the afternoon in Chefchauen, we go again to stretch our legs by climbing to the top of the Andalusian mosque which overlooks the city. The view for the sunset is magnificent and if you are around, do not miss this scenic spot.
The next morning, we soak up this magical city one last time and then we set off again towards the South.
