I've had someone do something similar to me. They were riding my ass, flashing their lights when they had absolutely no reason to do so, because they could've passed me at anytime since it was super late at night, and there was no one else around besides us, plus there was absolutely nothing wrong with my car. So, again, there was no reason for what they were doing to me. I just had to keep on driving and they finally stopped after about 2 or 3 miles, thank goodness. I imagine they would've just murdered me if I would've stopped, and they probably wouldn't have been caught for it either because of how late it was, and we were in the middle of nowhere with no one else around.

One of my sisters had to that when she was living in a total craphole called Upper Arlington, OH. Actually I think in Dale's case it would make complete sense for it to be a stranger. Isolation works both ways: Sure you may avoid some bad apples, but the bad apples that go out of their way to find you know you have that much less opportunity to be saved by anyone else. Additionally it wouldn't make sense that in a town that small, nobody would see/know of the truck the man used to stalk/harass/kill them with. If it were that small of a town, someone would know something about the truck. It also wouldn't make any sense for someone who knew where Dana lived to not also know she lived there with her boyfriend, and thus make the mistake of chasing her to her doorstep. And if it were someone local, you'd think they'd return to finish the job after Dale was shot, thinking they would/could be identified. But they chose to keep running, which I think speaks more to an uncertainty about the situation that wouldn't be present if the person who did it was known to them. It's also notoriously more difficult to solve random acts of violence than it is to solve local on local violence, which would serve this person to go out of their way to do these things far from where they personally live.

I became quite scared as I lived in a semi-rural area and would be the only one home for several hours. Not knowing what to do I called a friend's dad, who was a senior policeman. He told me to drive straight to the nearest police station and run to the front door. The moment I stopped my car outside the station the SUV's engine roared behind me and he sped away. I would recommend anyone being followed to first call emergency services and drive to the nearest cop shop. They likely won't be able to catch whoever is following you but they'll leave sharpish.

That advice is something that should be repeated to every single new driver. Do not engage; drive to a police station; That particular case is very odd; the assailant must have known the couple to come back UNTIL Dale loses his mind and follows him. Sounds like the target was Dale, but they didn't know where he lived though why they didn't just shoot him at the house is odd.

In the 3rd case, why did they try to hide the wife's body but left the husband's body there, sans head? Also kinda weird that the son just assumed it was a serial killer, with no proof?
@caffienatedcorvid7273

I can see why the son would assume it was a serial killer - both of those killings seem really planned out and methodical, very divorced from a crime of passion. It could also be his way of coping with it. It's a little more comforting to think that the murder of your parents was a random act from an evil person that you'll never see again, rather than a terrible horror committed by someone you may know and talk to every day.

Dale didn't deserve to die, but a harasser who comes back AFTER seeing there is an adult male in the home is clearly prepared and/or crazy enough to engage in violence with that adult male, so giving chase instead of calling the cops was pretty stupid. Again, NOT justifying murder, but Dale's foolish attempt at vigilante justice cost his son and wife forever.

I was thinking “Dammit, Dale, just look for the license plate number and call it in”. Only, the harasser didn't come back even after Dale was shot. So were they that prepared after all? One day after work, years ago, my mother was followed by another driver--she performed numerous turns and lane changes to make sure that she was in fact being followed and not just being paranoid. The guy stuck with her. She didn't want to lead him back to the home she shared with her children, so she drove directly to the police station. When the guy saw her pulling into the parking lot he drove passed and she never saw him or his vehicle again. It is both creepy and infuriating that people like that exist, and that normal people have to be on their guard against randomly crossing paths with a sociopath.

The utter lack of a "real" investigation by the FBI is an absolute grave disservice to this man and his family. I can see many ways that you would not have defensive wounds on a person who has been murdered. He could've been incapacitated by a choke-hold. I just don't understand the lack of outrage, especially by his peers and colleagues, about the conclusion of his death investigation. The medical examiner ruled his cause of death as drowning by manner of homicide. The FBI basically tried and succeeded in disputing that by drawing absolutely ludicrous conclusions. It's a travesty of justice. I really think that there was a lot going on behind closed doors and pressure was being applied to shut the investigation down quickly because of the suspicion that he possibly had taken currency from another case he was working. All the evidence they had against him was circumstantial at best. Since he was a District Attorney one would surmise that he would get the benefit of the doubt especially with his exemplary record. I hope his wife or children pressure someone to reopen his "suicide" investigation.

I can't put my finger on it but why do I suspect Dayna in the 2nd story? I mean, her boyfriend runs outside, jumps into his jeep, and then pursues someone that's made her apparently very uncomfortable only for her to put on a movie for her and her kid to watch? Something doesn't add up here, shouldn't she be at least calling the cops? Alerting the neighbours? A Typical movie is at least 1 hour long so you expect me to believe she just sat there for at least 1 hour while her boyfriend is out there pursuing someone dangerous? Now of course, we don't know a motive for this, I doubt she would stand to gain any inheritance as she wasn't married to him but could it be possible she discovered he'd done something that betrayed her? The fact that so little detail is told about their lives aside from where they live really makes me question just how much we aren't being told, especially by her.

In those rural small towns the police might take like half an hour at least to show up cause the town itself probably doesn’t have a police department. It’s usually in those instances the county police or sheriff that police’s the area. Besides that rumors spread like wildfire, people in those towns don’t usually often trust police etc etc and you might anger someone further, maybe they knew the guy personally and didn’t say there’s too many factors.
