Only problem with HOA is when there is a sudden big expense they didn't save ahead of time for, and you can get a BIG sudden correction charge due, like, next week.

I love watching your videos for the budget obvisously but also to see how different countries operate in various parts of "life" and the HOA thing is mind boggling to me!😅 Where I live (France) there is no way in hell anybody is gonna come and tell me which colour I can paint my house in or not! I paid for that house, if i want it to be purple you can bet it's going to be purple. I get the neighbourhood "uniformity" aspect but I could not stand being told what i can or cannot do or even worse what I must or must not do. You can tell me that you'd prefer the houses to have an homogeneous/cohesive tone but if i still want my purple house there is no law that can forbid me from having it. But like I said i guess it's a cutural thing and if you're ok with it then all the power to you! ☺ Anyways, back to the budget/video, i wish you all the best on your move and I hope settling in is gonna go as smoothly as possible! xoxo from France (and my soon to be purple house 😉 )

i literally don’t know why anyone would care what color their neighbors house was 😂 more important things to worry about!

It’s not a law, it’s a contract you enter when buying a house in a certain neighborhood. In my area in California the only neighborhoods with HOAs are like the ones on golf courses or gated communities. It’s still really easy to find homes in nice areas without HOAs. I’m thinking that might also be more common in bigger cities

Be very careful with turf. We have turf in our front yard and I recently discovered that most turf is made with recycled tires. There’s been health scares linked to recycled tires and the fumes they release in high temperatures. Some cities are banning them in park playgrounds. We don’t let our one year old play in the front yard anymore because the increased risk of childhood cancer, notably leukemia. Kids are at a much higher risk because they put stuff in their mouth but it’s dangerous for everyone. Our temps are regularly in 100+ F in summer and we’re getting the turf removed.

Turf gets REALLY hot! I wouldn’t do it again. We even got the “cooler technology” one.

Love your videos, but I despise HOAs. We have a lot owners association for our cabin in Maine, and I will never, ever, ever buy another property in an HOA/LOA. Just a bunch of people who want you to pay for things they want that no one really needs. So frustrating.

Sadly, you will likely find the warranty worthless as the builder will literally fight you over everything and make up every excuse to not fix even major issues. You will just have to jump in line behind everyone else suing that builder. It's the norm right not in Arizona.

Yep! We budget bill and it is $420 a month year around with APS. It is horrible. Fees are well over $130 alone without any kw charges.

Agreed! I love having an HOA. Everyone complains in our neighborhood but the neighbor who drove his truck over his grass and pulled it up got a notice and fine and I’m glad. Another neighbor left their leaking oil car in the main parking spaces of our neighborhood and got a fine. Sucks they got fines, but I want to have a nice neighborhood so I’m glad personally.

I think HOA could be great, mine is not. 😩 Lol definitely depends on the neighborhood and how strict they are

Could you technically make more income monthly if you paid yourself more from the business?? How do you pay yourself a steady income with an unsteady income via social media? Thanks!

It's a shame you can't be a month ahead on your mortgage. I'm sure your move made it difficult for you to budget that money for such. But that would be cool if you could leverage your budget to do that. Great first budget at new house!

What insurance company do you use for your property tax? So happy you’re not in escrow! I love paying my own so I can get credit card points for travel!

keeping the money in a HYSA until it’s due, putting the payment on a rewards credit card, flexibility on how much you put towards it each month instead of a decided monthly payment
