I had the pleasure of having him as my instructor at Midlands Tech Columbia SC during the time of this video 7-9 years ago. Today I was looking for information and found this!. James is the real deal I appreciate all the knowledge learned from this man. Really help me out in starting my career! I could say so much more but man I really appreciate this dude!

This man seems like a very good teacher. I like how he breaks the explanation down visually so that everyone is able to understand. Some teachers leave too much for the imagination. This is exactly how you would approach wiring a motor out in the field.

I am doing this now for real. Yours is the only one showing the connections for low voltage coil by coil. Thank you very much. I did it wrong, and motor was drawing 28 amps for 10 secs and ran, but sounded wrong. Smoke came out when turned off, but only a little, ohm reading of coils did not change, hope I did not break it. I did not break from 4-7, 5-8, 6-9, but did break the center connected 7,8,9, thinking those were the ends to bring out to connect, as all the other sources don't show it like you did. Motor is for a Cincinnati Mill machine from 1966 and don't think I could replace it easily.

Nice to see someone with a motor on the desk and leads hanging out of it, and then referencing those leads in his explanation. Yes, even that helps when one is learning.

This is a great video. I've wired a lot of dual voltage 3 phase motors, always relying on the wiring diagram. It's great to understand what I'm actually doing and not need the diagram.
