I have the shoulder mounts in my 69 F100. It had factory lap belts with the rubber plug as well. If you do the upgrade don't cheap out and get the manual 3 point. I did and they work but you would be surprised how much of a pain the lack of mobility is compared to the retractable belts.

My Dad has a 71 F250 and bought it brand new in late 1970.. I was just a kid at the time and he still owns the truck to this day.. I have always wondered what those rubber plugs where for until today! Thanks!

Thank you for your awesome videos. Do you have any advice for how to install 3 point harness seatbelts in a 1965 Ford F250? It seems to be a more the slightly different install.

I appreciate your videos. Very clear and easy to follow! I'm considering going from lap belts to shoulder (3-point) belts in my '73 Ford F-100. Would the process be different for a '73? I know one difference is room due to the gas tank not being directly behind the seat.
@AutoRestoMod

I think the '73 is easier. But would have to look at the truck.

I went with the lap belts. Both side are the retractable. Other wise you see them hanging out the door.the only problem i had was so many of the young cops use to pull me over looking for my seat belts. Because they did not know they only used lap belts in my truck.

A friend got pulled over for one taillight on his 32 Ford. It only had one tail light. Still got a ticket. Even though he was pulled over at a Ford car show and we were telling the officer that was correct.

Looking into this for my 68 250 and unfortunately I do not have any plugs so I am not sure what method I want to use at this point to get that bracket into the pillar.

I want to do a shoulder belt system with bucket seats in my 59 F100. Has any done this?
@AutoRestoMod
2 жыл бұрын
Honestly I'm sure someone has. The biggest issue you're going to have is is there something in the cab that would support the shoulder portion of it. In an accident the shoulder belt upper section is going to see a tremendous amount of force so there needs to be a good bit of bracing around the mount point.

No, not yet, we have a rim blow from a '69 Mustang. Hot tip: get a wheel for a 1965 Mustang. Same collar diameter on the 1967-'72 Truck.

Here is a video outlining the seat change: kzitem.info/news/bejne/z3eI3Hp6aYd4eGk. If you are tall from the the waist up, most all head rests will still let you bonk your bean.

I thought that's what that rubber grommet was for up on my '72 F100 Ranger B pillar! Why would they put it there if they didn't install a 3-point harness? Was it an option? Anyhow, I want to do this, but I'm not sure about drilling and tapping. I don't have a tapper. Maybe I could find a Grade 8 bolt that would fit the stock hole and an L bracket that would fit the stock hole on the floor..hmm
@AutoRestoMod

The Bolt would be really small to go in the non-tapped hole. The shoulder belts was an option. I have to say that the kit is very slick and easy to install.

If you are talking about the B pillar rubber plugs, sadly, ours were so brittle they ripped out. They are just push plugs.

Good source. But i checked a couple of products on retrobelt site. Specifications for the 3 types i looked up for a 1970 c10 say...Made in china. Nope. Also in rhis video..you mention a bolt rhat comes for your f100 being too big...just come on. Kits tailored for a certain model need to work without re-engineering don't you think? Basically you htought this btand to my attrntion so i could research them and eliminate them as an easy brand. Thank you

There were two mounting positions; at some point (I THINK 1971?) Ford moved it to the B-pillar.
