Rupes makes a trigger replacement that has a safety on it so you don’t accidentally turn it on. It’s like 25 bucks online

Headed to look for that asap

Given that it already has to go in for warranty they’re going to add the trigger to it while it’s there and when I get it back I’ll send the second one in 🙄

The purpose of the slow speed trigger on the PXE80 is to spread your compound or polish. Then you push the trigger all the way forward when you’re going to do actual work.

Ah, never really needed that. I feel like it’s way too slow for anything. If I need to spread I use speed one

@@HarkerHeightsCeramicCoatings I understand. The Flex rep said that half trigger was for spreading your polish. It’s all a matter of preference

@theunkownmr.562 for sure. Each their own and preference. There’s a lot of reasons to use either imo. It’s not a clear distinct winner but I only use one brand and I’ll say I don’t like the flex 5-6” power. The new Rupes 5-6 cordless are stronger than their corded, according to Rupes

I am a huge fan of both Rupes and Flex. I don’t think you can go wrong with either, but the Flex definitely offers a lot more functionality. I am like you and awaiting the cordless Rupes HLR15. I cannot wait to get it! I think I may go with the Flex PXE 80 as a compliment to it from a cordless standpoint. Thanks for sharing the review! Liked and Subd

For home use, do you think I can get away with the HLR75 as my only polisher to do a complete car?

I use some black electrical tape on the trigger and use the adjustment switch to turn the HLR75 on and off! I do the same on my Rupes Nano as well.
