Another good video however I feel a significant reason for using a high fade disc was not included here that being the strong headwind scenario where you must guarantee a finish to the left. I know you've done a video on wind but I still think it would have been worth having it as one of the reasons even if not fully explained as to why. Thanks

Your channel is so awesome! Thanks again for a great scientific video! A suggestion for a future video... How to predict the direction of skip on flat verses sloped ground, and comparing different directions of slopes for the landing zone. Being able to judge whether to use a FH or BH to approach a landing on a hillslope is critical. Being able to predict if the disc will "counter-skip", dig in and sit, or stand up and roll would be great. Thanks!

Freaking loving these videos, especially as a scientist myself. One thing I just noticed is that the guy in the beginning is definitely rounding on his reachback haha.

If you have an under stable disc and know how to add a small amount of anhyzer you can still get about the same length out of your tee drive but I agree on everything else

I liked near the end showing the view of when you throw a disc flat vs angled up. I'd love to see you guys do that showing anyhzer and hyzer angles to then point as to where the discs should curve and end up. Like one with more turn thrown hyzer should flip back right and flatten out and sail further so I assume if throwing a high fade disc with more anhyzer would help so when it flatten back out left it corrects and sails longer? I guess that could figure into a video about high turn or high fade but since those are already done it could fit into a video about release angles!

+Best Disc Golf Discs awesome! that's what I was hoping! show that POV shot like you did and how release angles change the shot. maybe compare high turn and high fade discs and how release angles affect their shape when thrown. BUT I'm sure you already planned to do that :) I look forward to that video!

Thank you for covering fade - although as usual, I want to add a couple of finer details you missed. When thinking about ranging, a High Fade disc is often preferable, but to make it even easier to hit your range, you will use a High Fade LOW GLIDE disc. So, a Lat64 World (14 4 1 4) is going to be easier to range accurately than a Lat64 Giant (13 5 1 4). Another very important thing we need to pay close attention to, is that High Fade discs are affected by the wind more, as they start to fade. The more hyzer angle a disc has, the more the wind can "see" the disc. When flying totally flat, laminar wind flow makes the disc almost invisible to the wind (except for airspeed, which we will ignore here) - BUT - as soon as the wind can "see" the flightplate - whether the upper or lower surface - it begins to push the disc. The greater the hyzer angle, the greater the pushing effect. This is most true for crosswinds: If the wind is left to right for an RHBH player, then a hyzer angle will cause the disc to be pushed downwards rapidly, preventing the disc from reaching left, and often descending vertically, rather than actually flying left. If the wind is right to left, then a hyzer angle allows the wind to get under the disc, and to lift it greatly, causing it to fly much further left than with no wind - and depending on wind speed, this distance could easily exceed 60 metres in lateral fade distance. Plus, with the lifting effect, the total distance is also radically increased, of course! It behooves a player to understand these effects, and adjust their disc choice, hyzer angle, and height accordingly. Penultimately, when we consider the ability of a disc to skip when it lands, the high fade discs will tend to skip less when compared to the maximum height they attain, compared to a Low Fade disc. A High Fade disc will tend to have a steeper hyzer angle when it lands, for each metre of altitude it had in flight. So, a Low Fade disc will skip more for each metre of altitude put on it. So, to prevent discs skipping, and to make them "dump" (finish close to where they land) you would tend to use a High Fade disc, and the ultimate "dump" is the spike hyzer, which tombstones when it lands, leaving a large cut in the ground. So, for shots where you WANT the disc to skip, the lower they fly, the further the individual skips are - such that a disc thrown VERY close to the ground may skip up to 6 or 7 times - like a skipping stone on water. Each successive skip will tend to tighten the skipping line. Also, low-angle skips penetrate forwards more, while higher angles produce steeper skips, and thus less forward distance and more right-to-left movement, Skipping a High Fade disc will tend to produce fewer skips if thrown flat, and of course they will reach further. And of course, we need to consider the effect the wind will have on the disc after it skips - with reference to its fading characteristic.

Great explanation of fade. Well done. I really wish that your videos would be posted in a more timely manner. The information is so valuable to players and having to wait, sometimes quite a while between them, can get frustrating. I am really looking to your flex shot video. Thanks again.

First I love the videos. Also I'm a fairly new player. Can't I accomplish some of the same things by throwing a -2+2 disc and use hyzer and an anhyzer release.? Plus choose diff high /low speed or middle range discs to tweak range?

+D. O'H Players can definitely alter the disc's flight path by adjusting their release angle, but we recommend (if possible, based on your disc selection) choosing discs that are best suited for the planned shot, rather than trying to alter the flight of less ideal discs.

Does fade also effect how much it curves to the right when your throw a rhfh?

Yes -- while all of the graphics in our videos are based on throws that spin clockwise, for counterclockwise spin (RHFH, LHBH) the flight paths are mirror images of what is shown.
