Excellent concept on constant travel. We do it a bit different and will stay as long as the tourist visa will allow, and then go to the next country. So AirBnB works perfect for us as we get the monthly rate. We can always stay in 2 or 3 different AirBnB's on a 90 day tourist visa. Works great.

Valid points for prefering hotels. Personally, I prefer AirBnBs over hotels, but they have become more expensive in the last couple yesrs. Last week we booked a Luxury Cabin, but it was anything but. Lets start here. Peeling paint, patched celings, unpainted as well, air conditioning had soaked the dry wall, trash in bags on property, stained tables, stained bedding,ripped bedding, bathroom cabinet seems someone used a axe on it, yes. Coffee maker filled with bugs, toaster filled with bugs and toast, doors falling off hinges, a oven mitt that literally made me want to throw up, bugs all over on furniture and mantles, company that managed (host) did not respond. We had to call Airbnb and we immediately gathered the luggage and departed for home. We will not accept filth. The cabin had a $180.00 cleaning fee, @ $350 nightly. Posted a very short clip of what we encountered on my channel, we had to provide Airbnb a full video and photo catalog of all the aforementioned disasters. Never again . Sadly the Luxury cabin was supposedly cleaned 48 hours before as someone else had been there. I dont think so. There was even a weird pillow and rolled up blanket under the deck like someone had been there.

I’m a SE Asian solo slow traveler. I travel the same Way. I have an additional reason I select hotels. I use every opportunity to meet locals by design. I’m a cultural explorer. Every hotel I stay in over 3 days I invest some time to ask questions and acknowledge the staff for providing me with a wonderful experience. People all around the world are not acknowledged. I make new friends and exchange contact information. I get information from locals about what it’s really like to live somewhere I would never get being in an Airbnb. Something to think about is also the gentrification that airbnb causes. Mexico City’s working class got destroyed for allowing Americans to overstay which caused rents to quadruple in some places. I personally wouldn’t want to be part of that issue so I’d rather stay in a hotel anywhere I go (not always possible but I do my best)

i traveled to thailand for about 14yrs and lived there within for 5yrs. PI and cambodia also. first-mr. retire and go (i have commented on this) has the proper mindset, attitude for thailand and such. layed back, cool, not pushy, ect. that goes a long way there. listen many ways to skin the "travel" cat. I do the same here with 6 months. but IF i am over one month here is my modus operandi: i do not reserved the airbnb until i get to say hua hin, thailand. i rent a decent hotel ($30 and under) and then IF i am staying more than one month i get the arbnb since i am like a few miles away. sometimes you can go see the place. but as they say in the military: before sending $400 (and that is between airbnb and me) i want to be in that city. not delayed for days in a flight ect. this vary's with the county/city..again thailand, PI. for a month you get a decked out apartment for say $400-$450. the condos in thailand all have CCTV and i agree on that. most have a guard. though for staying one month i like the "at home" feeling. a kitchen for me is a big plus and most have not a dryer but a washer and hang your clothes. again many condos in thailand for say $450 a month ($15 a day) you are getting a big screen TV, king bed no housekeeping in the hallway at 8am and knocking on you door. again you "feel" at home. plus you have insurance with arbnb (theft, fire, ect) and arbnb is a US company. listen no right or wrong way: to each there own..but nice when you are at city XYZ for a month or more (even under 3 months) and that is you digs and such.

Where are you getting condos for 450 a month? What part of Thailand? In the more desirable areas of Bangkok I can't find anything for less than 7-800. But I like to stay near the center for convenience. Airbnb is always more expensive. I try to negotiate with people off the platform
@tailwind12
3 ай бұрын
@@Chris-dw6cu 👀I do not like giving away all my Thailand secrets but: hua hin, Cha am and Pattaya. I mean literally hua hin you can get dozens if not more at that price if not cheaper on Airbnb. You're talking a large efficiency like a very large hotel room or such.. sometimes a small one bedroom but everyone has a full kitchen. I left hua hin.. November of last year and I had a beautiful place 200 m from the Ocean by Blue Port Mall and it was 4:10 everything included..I use the electric considerably and it was $50 for the month. Yes no doubt Bangkok is the most expensive most probably you're not going to find that price. No I looked for September of this year and I found a few between 5 and $600 near Sukhumvit. Nice thing about Airbnb is also you get all the insurances like fire and such. And you're paying monthly a US company whatever the terms are. It might have changed but in Thailand 10 years ago when I was going to rent for one year the Thai company actually wanted the money all up front. That of course was a big no. As I said there's different ways to skin the travel cat per se. Just what I'm staying there for a month and I like to have a lady or friends over and to cook I do like having a place that I feel is an apartment not just a room on temporarily in.

Airbnb has basically cornered the short term rental market so everything goes through them. Before Airbnb you could just find and negotiate with property owners and get great deals. Now it's impossible. Airbnb has caused insane inflation throughout the short term rental market everywhere. The best thing to do is pick an Airbnb that looks good to you.
