So sorry to hear about your issues! My 2013 Grand Cherokee overland has been great to us for the last 10 years and about to hit 80k miles! Rlly nice car and very nice interior build too, only problem with it has been the air suspension you get on the overland trim, it was a $40 part that needed to be replaced and that’s rlly it! I've had this exact jeep gc (except 2wd 3.6L V6) since April 2016, bought it at 86k miles with only one flaw... The windshield wiper fluid dispenser tube was broke. needless to say that was an easy fix that the dealership handled, but a few months later the thermostat went out and under factory warranty it was replaced for free. it's now December and today I hit a deer on the way to work this morning at 55 mph it cracked my driver mirror and put a huge dent in my driver side rear door. smh, overall I love it. gas is $2.00 a gallon unleaded where I live and it cost me $40 to fill up it's my daily driver I only fill up once a week. it gets 18mpg in the city and 22mpg on the highway. great acceleration. great steering/handling. great suspension. great audio system. nice roar when you punch it. I wish I had $70k to get the SRT model but I love my jeep I can't wait to get her fixed again soon.

I cringe at people that review things they don't understand. That 5 speed was dropped in 2014 for an 8 speed. The steering? It's not a sports car, it's a Jeep. Recalls? The early models (2011 and 2012) sure, but it's 2016 and most of the kinks have been worked out. Finally, this review contradicts itself many may times. P. S. I love mine.
@Shiftaholics
7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment and I have mentioned that this vehicle is prior to the facelifted model with the new tranny. As far as the steering it is more of a handling characteristic of the car at extreme cornering. there are many vids about this, and the handling gets kind of unpredictable wish sharp cornering. I was comparing it to some of the other cars I have on my lot. But all good points thanks!

Thanks man. The Overland is a nice looking Jeep, but I drove the GLC and I think it handles much better on the road then the Jeep, however the Jeep has a few advantages: Size, Off Road Capabilities, and Price. Also I do not have any historical ownership data on the GLC so I do not know how it is to own. I just think the GLC handling is more predicable specially when you are really coming close to its limit. I say test get a solid price on both cars test drive them and then decide based on everything you know. Good luck!

This generation of grand cherokee wk2 on a solid frame, the new wl is no longer available, the dealer in Australia sent me with regards to the welded frame in wk2: Monocoque Body with Built-in Ladder Frame They say that superior off-road handling capability could only come at the expense of on-road smoothness. They have obviously never driven grand cherokee . By incorporating a lightweight and highly rigid monocoque body with a built-in ladder frame that provides added resistance to torsion and flexing and fixing them atop a dynamic independent suspension, Grand cherokee achieves an unprecedented combination of all-terrain control and luxury-sedan comfort. For added durability, grand cherokee now makes more extensive use of galvanized steel body panels, while the new aluminum hood panel reduces weight for better handling. very durable strong suv grand cherokee and relieble

Once Renault took over it was all about cheaper ways to build their cars to increase profit margin. The president of Renault gave his big beginning of the year speech and said the goal for 2019 was not to sell more cars but to increase profit margin. That tells you a lot! ha The Cherokee has a lot of transmission issues over the years. If you go back and pull up the recall list on them the transmission just continues to pop up. They have a number of recalls for electrical issues for the last 13 years. Our Cherokee was on it's 13th recall when we parked it and bought a Toyota. The latest recalls involve the cruise control rapidly speeding up and will not shut off. for the 2017 model there have been 7 cruise control issues reported alone. problems with it speeding up showed up on models with as little as 9,000 miles on them. The issue continues to be reported and recalled for the 2019 model. They also recalled the Jeep Cherokee for roll away risks. This issue was made famous when actor Anton Yelchin was killed when his Cherokee began to roll and pinned him against a wall.

they have a new 8 speed transmission and a new engine now. this is a great used car review tho if your buing a 5 year old jeep. cant compare this to a 2016-2017 model.

I agree with you, I have an 8 speed 2015 and I have not noticed the same problem however I have only driven it a couple of times. However I do not like the gear selector it is a bit strange to use.

Shiftaholics yea the 2015 model have a recall on all of them or that weird shifter. You contact jeep and they will change it free of charge they have too. Might even give you a loaner. But they must change it.

When you buy garbage you get garbage (chrissler products,MB, BMW, Audi, land Rover,Ferrari,alpha Romeo, Maserati,Fiat, Jaguar) all of them are great at making disposable trash with wheels. All those companies should pay Toyota to teach them how to make cars.

I had a 2011 and I agree with you all the way! It was the worst vehicle I have ever owned. That thing was nothing but problems from day one. I have been a mechanic for over 30 years and it was the worst vehicle I have dealt with other than Fiats.

I had a ZJ and then a WK, the ZJ is much better quality than the WK whcih was under Mercedes. WJ which we also own under Daimler Chrysler got worse after 1999. WK Grand Cherokee I have has a Mercedes 3.0 V6 Diesel and NAG1 Transmission, the mechanicals are OK but the overall interior is no where what the older ones were.
