So what is your favourite method for moving Davinci Resolve projects between different computers and workstations? Mine is shown at the end of the video, but I don't think it will be too long before we are all really able to make use of remote and cloud opportunities. @@AlexCameron-Depiqd @Alex Cameron - Depiqd Hi Alex, We miss your videos. Perfect pace and as a certified trainer the right knowledge. Great that Davinci Resolve is now erupting everywhere, even with the big boys. I have the choice for very expensive software with all separate programs, and those never of yourself are never understood. You'll be too busy, but hopefull, we'll see you here again soon. And rather rested than on the way to a burnout. Greetings from me and my colleagues 🙋🏻♂️ BTW, we hardly ever get around to posting videos on KZitem. We also hope to come up with many reviews of our equipment soon, but we are still very busy learning as much as possible about Davinci Resolve Studio. Video editing has never been so beautiful and such a challenge. 🏆

I'm going to say thank you because you have solved my problem. I literally just got off the phone with Davinci Resolve Studio support and the guy who talked to me told me that none of this was actually possible and that I was tethered to the system I started editing with. I told him I didn't think that was right and he assured me it was. He told me that there must be a translation error because their company is Australian and not American. I'm like, don't they write/speak English in Australia? He even told me that I could not use the cloud the way I wanted, which is what you just covered. This is my second and LAST time calling them. I'll just go to KZitem University for my questions moving forward. I really like Davinci Resolve Studio but their support is subpar. Again, thank you for resolving my issue in less time than it took me to type all this.

Great video! One thing to stress is that when you export then import a project you're making a snapshot of the project and any further work done will be within your respective databases (libraries) and that export you made won't be updated. That trips people up sometimes!

At work we have a NAS/Synology w/10gb connection that we store and edit from. If one were to want to work remotely then I would assume creating a project archive would allow that opportunity to do so by creating and storing that media onto your laptops hard drive. But, when you return to the office with edits made to the archived project, how would you toss it back to so to work from the server again? Thanks!!

Recently I've been creating a new Project Library in the same file tree as the media that's been recorded by my ATEM Mini Extreme and having one project in there. As long as I copy all the files in that tree (or just move the external SSD) that Project Library can be linked on a new machine. Relinking the media and adjusting the clip location in the settings usually works nicely.
@AlexCameron-Depiqd
Жыл бұрын
Interesting...so you record everything with the ATEM, which creates a project and ISO file for you. Then you create a new Project Library to open each of these projects in and have that Project Library live in the same folder the ATEM created so the whole package can easily be moved around. Have I got that right?

Thank you for this information. One question: when starting a new project it wil be on my PC, on the SSD-drive. When finished , I copy / backup my files and DVP on a extern HD in a basis- projecmap including all the unused files ( just in case...). These are not copied or moved ot de archive. When later, I have to modify the project, what can i do best? Move all back to the SSD again and reimport the DVP into Davinci Resolve. When needed I add the new clip into the project. After this i make a new archive-fle/map in the same basic-map and move everything back to my backup HD. Please let me know what you think about this workflow. Thanks

Hi Alex, thanks for the great, clear insight. Quick question - is it possible to have 2 computers working on the same .drp file simultaneously (not using cloud) e.g I create the project on my computer, but share the project with a remote editor. We both work on different aspects of the project over the same period, the second editor then resends the same .drp file back to me which I import back into DVR. Will the changes made by both editors reflect on a master project? (hope this makes some sort of sense?). Cheers, Matt

Having come from Adobe products, this workflow has tripped me up a bit. I want to house all of the files for a Resolve edit within my project folder for a given project - not some database directory buried inside c:/userprofile/roaming/appdata/.... (windows). So two questions. 1 how do i do this and 2 be sure that as I continue working on these timelines, things dont get copied back in to the c:/ default database path.

I often move my projects between disks on my PC. When I just move to another disk and try to open it on davinci, it says "project library is not connected" and there's no way to reconect it. At least i didn't figured it out yet. So now I have to export this project file first, move everything and then open the project again. It's really the only way to do it?

Thank you for the video. It didn’t quite explain what happens when you travel. Let’s call this remote editing. For example, editing on the airline home from a shoot. Over the pond there is no internet or it’s a very slow satellite based WiFi. This REALLY slows down the editing process or speed of the computer because of the WiFi or lack there of. Not to mention nothing is 100% saved which creates a big risk for loosing your enroute edits. In this case, is it best to store all of the data (video, audio and edits) on an external drive? Then you could just unplug the drive from one computer and plug into the other. Formatting the hard drive would limit you to one operating system I think. Right? In other words you couldn’t do edits on an iPad (size and weight matters when traveling) with the external drive and just connect to a PC at home? Right? I don’t think that would work.

Very good. I do have one issue: I have managed to transfer my files and open them on my other computer, but, the files seem to not be found on my new computer. In other words, my project loads, but all my videos, images, and audio recordings show as "Media Offline[.]" I did also transfer these files to my new computer, under the same name, but I still have no luck. Interestingly enough, when I manually add one of the "missing" files onto my timeline, the file does show correctly. Do you know if any fix to this? I tried restarting my Davinci Resolve (I have version 18.5), but I also had no luck with that. Thank you in advance. I should clarify: when I upload a "missing" file onto my timeline, it just loads normally, as in if I, say, cut it previously, I'd have to cut it again (I hope that makes sense). Otherwise, I could just upload all my files onto the timeline and call it a day.
