Sometimes the solutions we use to fix mistakes end up better than it would have been without the mistake. Really love all the ways you used this pattern. Definitely makes me excited to make a few for the summertime.

Love the way you do so much with so little. Watched your bodice block videos. You and I are almost identical size. It is so nice to see styles on someone built the same as me. You inspire me.

3 great, original tops, I love how you change the patterns to make it your own. My favourite is the first one and I love the collar, no sign of the problems you had with the neckline.

Really cute tops, I love all three, but the first one is so cute with that collar, I would never have guessed you had problems with it.

It was great to hear some nice things about the Sorbetto top! So many people are complaining about it. Your versions are lovely!

ppuyle1 when you make a pattern, you have to be willing to make adjustments. We are free to change it up and make it fit. The front armhole is very weird and so are the sleeves. I had to do mayor adjustments to make it look normal. Otherwise, the shape of the rest is ok. It's free.... I also loathe bias binding... its a sure way to make them look home made...

You are so right about using darts in the back to define your waistline. I don't make tops with pleats down the front because I think it adds too much bulk to the front. I like your hacks!

Bettye Ames thanks. I guess the boxy shape is only ok for figures that are very thin and lacking curves... otherwise the pregnant look is not cool ha ha. I used the pleat on the front only on one of the versions and it's because rayon lays very flat when pressed... I wouldn't do the pleat on another fabric...

Wow they all look great I especially like the last one, that cross over is really fun. Are you like me look at a pattern and say oh I really like that, then do the whole I wonder what would happen if I did xyz to it lol ...I do that with my Quilting too. Have a great week look forward to seeing what you come up with next x

Quiltygal yeah! Specially plain simple patterns... it's just too boring NOT to hack. I always have my thinking cap on for sewing and I LOVE the creative process. It also helps that I know how to transform patterns 👍🏻

Michele Mohamed hi Michelle. If you look at my June Refashions Week 1 video, at the 5:43 mark, I explain how I add darts to patterns 👍🏼. Check that out and if you think I should address it again, let me know. Thanks for watching.

Great designs on your tops.I like the interesting necklines and resourceful use of fabrics. Do you stay stitch your necklines to prevent them from stretching? Great solution to the problem , really adds to the top? Have been enjoying your videos.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles

Wanda Cleveland I stayed stitched all of them but that one stretched in spite of that. The fabric was very very wrinkled and I recall ironing that neckline quite obsessively! Hence the stretching.

Three beautiful blouses. I would never know they were Sorbettos. Your skills are impressive as is your resourcefulness with fabrics. Love the collars and the overlap. I watched your bodice block video as I'm still trying to get my head around alterations. Do you actually use your own bodice block if you are using a printed pattern like the Sorbetto or do use your measurements to alter the printed pattern?

I have this on my list to send to the print shop, can't get into print and cutting and taping pdf patterns _ LOL! What a nice fix for the stretched out collar, it looks really nice on you. My favorite is that brown criss cross one. Do you have a rule of thumb for lining tops, skirts, etc? Thanks for sharing.

NaturalDane this top doesn't require many pages of Cutting and taping. I do It whilst watching tv and am done in no time. Also it's my Only option (no Copy shops here). I like to line That is thin to give stability. It makes the garment look, hang, and move nicer.
@SewNaturalDane

Oh, I meant is there a measurement that you consider when doing the lining? For example, if your skirt is 2yrds, how much of fabric would you use for lining it?
@LiftingPinsandNeedles
7 жыл бұрын
NaturalDane to line anything you are basically cutting out the same pattern pieces in the lining fabric, so you need the same amount of lining as the main fabric. Everything and anything can be lined.
