Thanks for the video! I have two (noob) questions: 1 These structures all seem to work towards a happy end. That is obviously because that is what viewers like to see. Is there a structure for a story that doesn’t have a happy ending? But one that still keeps the viewer engaged? 2 And a practical question. I come from a photojournalistic background where things happen as they happen. How far are things staged / planned in documentary filmmaking? In what way do you guide your subjects to do things? Is it allways possible to apply these structures from the beginning of a project, or does it mostly happen in the edit after the filming process? Thanks again! Johannes

Thanks for this, great intro to storytelling, been looking all over on how to approach storytelling, and for a beginner filmmaker, this video has given me great tools and info :) Would be awesome to learn more about storytelling for adventure documentaries 🙌

@@benmenashe thanks for watching! So glad it was helpful. A lot more story elements will be coming to the channel soon! If you haven’t, check out the video I made about character traits in documentary filmmaking. I think you might find value there too!
