This was my first intro to the cigar box guitar, and, sure enough, a month later, I couldn't shake the bug and sure enough a month later bought one, thanks Knotlenny for making this a LOT less intimidating!

Nice extension on the tuner toss. Everything you said was super helpful. I'm tuned to the hi strings of Open G (GBD) so I had to move the 2nd fret note to the outside strings but this was one of the most helpful tutorials I've come across. You're an excellent teacher!

Awesome ?? He's a LEGEND !! I've been throwing my CBG in the corner out of frustration for MONTHS. Now i realise i've been TOTALLY overthinking it ! I mean, FFS - it's a ruddy guitar made out of a BOX! Why the HELL am I using a Digi-tune, or in fact trawling KZitem looking for tunings. THANKYOU Kevin !

I bought a 3 string guitar neck "you finish" kit and it came with a fretboard cut to 24-5/8" scale. My 6-string has 25-1/2" but that seems a bit long for a cigar box body. This is a wonderful video for showing what can be done. He is right on when he talks about intervals and no frets.

I agree that ear tuning is sufficient, but I do like my snark tuner.... Just nice to check on my ear every now and then. Also it has trained my ear pretty well. I think Knotlenny was just trying to say you dont need one, which you dont.

the bit about tuners was a very lame joke. On Amazon right now a Snark is $8.79 Even if your CBG keeps going out of tune, it's worthwhile to use one, although not an $80 one, for sure.

GONG still sounds out of tune to me and carrying that weighty slide to play it that little seems silly never mind rock and roll on a cigar box really?
