It was raining during my safety course. Raining just hard enough to make it slippery I think it kinda of made it more fun 😂

My first year riding was 2017....April 14 I wrote my M1, passed and went to the dealership that same day and bought a brand new '17 Yamaha WR250R. My buddies all rode sport bikes but I didn't want to jump right into something with SO much power SO quickly.....I spent my first riding season learning how to ride....(much different than riding in the dirt out in the back 40 on dirt bikes growing up!!) I took the Rider Safety Course in Hamilton with Learning Curves, acquiring my M2 and just this past June, I passed to my full M. In the beginning of 2018's riding season, I bought a Yamaha R6.....WOW!! What a difference, in ride AND price. My insurance more than doubled. Unfortunately, shortly after getting my M2, I crashed my R6 almost breaking my neck.....the Doctor told my that if it had not been for the proper gear and Shoei helmet, I would have died. I was going to fix my R6 BUT.....I came across a 2010 Suzuki GSXR 750 in AWESOME condition with only a couple thousand on the speedometer.....I spent 2019 absolutely in LOVE!! When I first started riding, I bought fairly inexpensive gear....Icon Hypersport Jacket....Icon Airflight helmet....Icon leather pants....etc...This past year, I upgraded to Dainese gear....spending around 4 thousand on pants, boots, jacket, gloves and base layers.....I have my truck and bike on one policy....(they say it's suppose to be cheaper) and I am paying a little over $2,900.00 per year......Since I started riding, I have spent with EVERYTHING....bikes, insurance, courses, gear.....around 30 thousand. I am currently looking at the 2020 Suzuki GSXR 750....I figure, a liter bike might get you going faster but the difference in insurance rates....is it really worth the extra? Especially when the GSXR 750 is just as good as the 1000.....granted it doesn't come equipped with the quick shifter...launch control....traction control....but that stuff kinda just takes the fun out of riding to me. I do plan on getting the quick shifter installed tho.....and heated grips and getting it flashed...and removing the cat and factory exhaust for an M4....lol.... I like how you actually show your face in your videos, unlike most other vlogger's who for some reason seem to think that the government or professional assassins are going to come after them if they don't....sub'ed!! like the no frills....down to earth, just sitting in front of the camera....not all blinged up with bells and whistles..good job!! Ride safe too eh!!

Hi! Thank you so much for watching my video and for the amazing comment! I honestly really appreciate that you truly could relate and that you shared your experience with me. I believe that this is why the riding community is one of the best around because we know both the life and financial risks of this great passion of ours. I will also look to get much better gear this year because it is so true that you really never know what life will throw at you on a bike. Happy to hear that you are recovering from your inqury and that you are riding again and shopping for your 2020 bike! Lots of support from me for your accomplishments! Happy New Year soon! :)

Hey Tim! That is amazing that you are doing all your prep work well in advance so that you are ready for the spring. So exciting! I would absolutely consider doing a ride with my followers one day as that would be extremely fun! This year I am hoping to go to more meet-ups and create go-pro videos and perhaps next year I will plan for a meet-up ride. I will be sure to keep you posted if I do! :)

Is riding in Canada popular? Seems more popular than it is in the states.
@MelodyCamposMotorcycleLife
5 жыл бұрын
Hi! thank you for the comment. It's funny because I am always under the impression that it is more popular in the US. But mostly because here we can only really ride in the summer months. Whereas in the US there are some states that are hot all year round. And I've heard in some states it is not illegal if you do not wear a helmet and lanesplitting is also allowed in some areas.

Covid threw everything out the window in terms of motorcycling. Originally I was booked for my M2 course in May. Cuz of covid it got pushed to June.. then July.. then August.. and now the end of September. I’m so upset, I had everything ready. Got my bike, passed my M1, got full gear. I guess I’m gonna be looking for another place that offers the course sooner. Currently I was with Riders Training. Sucks cuz I will only have a little bit of riding season left 😭
@MelodyCamposMotorcycleLife

Aw I'm so sorry to hear and it really does suck that everything is being delayed right now. :( Just keep in mind that everything you do this year sets you up perfectly for next riding season (which was also my mentality after getting my M1). Because you will start riding in April next year and have a kick ass riding season. Reach out to "Motorsoul" M2 riding school because I have seen their instagram stories of them offering the course right now. Their insta is: "motorsoulridingschool" if you wanna check them out. :) I hope this can work out to get you riding sooner!

Melody Campos -Motorcycle Life thanks :) I checked Motorsoul but they’re full too. I’ve signed up with Fanshawe College. Booked for August 26, 2020. Thats better than the end of September 😅. I’m determined to get my M2 this season. I got my bike like September so I can’t wait any longer lol. Also, was the course hard at all?
@MelodyCamposMotorcycleLife
4 жыл бұрын
@@saltnpepp3r27 aw that's so exciting and I'm very happy for you that you can do the course in August! The course is not hard and actually more fun because pretty much everyone there is learning how to ride for the first time. The only thing to keep in mind is- the only way to fail is if you drop your bike on the final test. So definitely practice riding and getting confident throughout the course :) I'm sure you'll do great!

Cost is definitely the biggest factor in my opinion. I recently had to get new tires and wheel bearings and then as I got them changed I found out that the stator wore out and my bike cant charge my battery. That's another few hundred dollars in parts unfortunately. This is all the additional maintenance to keep in mind that not a lot of people talk about
@MelodyCamposMotorcycleLife

@@MelodyCamposMotorcycleLife I would never spare on tires. It's the one thing I'm ok with going big on since it's literally the thing that connects you to the road. As long as you keep the pressures right and use them properly, a good pair of rubber should last you 2 season depending on Km in my experience
