And....justifying is in itself a form of judgment. Ie, judging your own actions as right in order to avoid any form of guilt. Feeling bad about our sin is a moral form of pain, telling us something is morally wrong in us, even as physical pain is our body’s way of telling us something is physically wrong. They are both necessary for life, one for physical life, the other for eternal life. To avoid guilt and moral pain is to continue in the way of death. So to point out someone’s moral state and bring them to a place of pain is exactly the same as a doctor pointing out the reason for physical pain, leading to healing and life. Doctors judge us all the time. And there is a difference between judgment and discernment. We would do well to look into that if we want to understand what is required of us as christians.

The point of that verse is to say that you have so much to perfect in yourself that you never will, have so much to work out in yourself, that you have no time leftover to then critique someone else's life/ways. The second point about judging an escaped convict at your door is not judging, it's using common sense and avoiding an obvious danger. The way you phrased it almost sounds like it is acceptable to judge people's appearances however, which is not okay. The last point is more on point, I think God calls us to counsel at times, which is still different than surface-level judgment, but instead a deep, private intervention when and only when it is called for by God. The common notion is that judging is just saying anything negative about a person. I´ve learned that the Biblical notion is: 1) not to judge to the point of condemnation. The devil accuses people for their destruction, but the Holy Spirit convinces people for their restoration, and that should be our motivation; 2) not to judge the intentions of the heart. Only God knows the heart, and sometimes someone can be unintentionally in error, or even be erring with good intentions. God bless. Thanks for the video.

Well done, Alisa! This has bugged me for a long time. I had crafted a response, but yours is more comprehensive. I love the example of your people-pleasing friend who decided to fear God more than she feared you; that her challenge was actually a mature act of love, calling you out to be the woman that God designed you to be. This is what growing up into the full maturity of Christ looks like (Eph 4:13) . . . At the same time, it counters this popular notion that letting someone "follow their heart" - even if it is taking them down a destructive path - is the compassionate, inclusive and diverse-loving thing to do.

The church is great about judging the lost while turning a blind eye to or even excusing the sins inside the church. Paul, through Jesus Christ, taught the exact opposite. We all, as spiritual stones, need to first cast out the beam from our own eyes.

@Seer Class Paul teaches through Jesus Christ. The bible is Holy Spirit breathed. No prophecy is of any personal revelation. God uses various people as instruments to do his will. Paul, like all the apostles and everyone else involved in writing the scriptures is no different. Jesus says he does not permit a woman to teach over men. She may teach other women, children and teens. Beware of a dangerous false teaching in the church which demonizes Paul.

@Seer Class Oh ok I apologize I wasn't trying to come across as aggressive. May I ask if you are a born again believer? Could you also give me an example of something you see as a contradiction?
@heathers4961

@Seer Class Ok. I only ask because in John 3:3 Jesus says “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Before I was actually born again (which means we are born again by grace through faith in Christ and receive God's Holy Spirit by) I didn't understand the term either. I assumed it was a denomination like anglican or something. I asked you because after we are born again, God's Holy Spirit guides us into all truth through the scriptures. As we encounter things in scripture that seemed like contradictions to us as unbelievers, God gives us wisdom and understanding and teaches us how to rightly divide the word.

@Turtle Riley I agree. We can either listen to the Holy Spirit's leading or follow our own way. Following our own way leads to doctrinal errors and twisting of scripture to fit men's doctrines. I believe that is largely why there are so many false doctrines in the church. I only follow a very few teachers now who I believe are genuinely grounded in the word and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Exactly how could someone give you a thumbs down for this one. Apparently they don’t want to be judge yet they judged you??? Confused

I don´t think anyone likes to be judged. The core is, what did Jesus mean by judging? Could it be pointing fingers at others? Or did he not want us to judge a poem competition? You can have different opinions on it, but we have a biblical texts where Jesus clearly says: Do not judge.

I know I have a lot of work to do.. especially with this topic.. I agree with you totally..!! But sometimes when I try to edify someone in my family or someone I just know.. they look at the old me.. they think I’m being self righteous.. I ask God to help me with this every day. I my wife always said I just attacked her.. even when I said it gently with love.. she felt manipulated and controlled.. but with all my heart I was just trying to keep her away from sin. She’s very easily influenced by people. We were together for 14 years with two kids. I’m 35 and she’s 36 our kids are 19boy and 13girl .. now she’s going astray and turning her back on God and her family. She’s turning back to her old life style before we met which was the homosexual life style. She’s so angry and hurt that she’s going back out of bitterness towards me. I love her so much and I made mistakes.. I was a lukewarm Christian. I thought I knew but I didn’t know nothing about Jesus. I just want to show her this new man.. new creation.. September 2020 I gave my life to Christ. We been separated for almost two years now. Now this has happened.. please please pray for her.. she knows it’s not right but she knows I’m against it so her flesh is making her do it.. God knows I have guilt even to this day for my past mistakes. But I can’t take them back.. only move forward with God . With love.. thank you all for listening.. God be with you as well

I think there’s a difference between judging which is attributed to criticism, but discernment is using wisdom to assess a situation. We should be discerning ad Christian’s, but not judge mental.

Judge righteous and not condemning or hypocritical. John 7:24 “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.” Proverbs 28:13 “He who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy”
@SpectatorAlius

But be careful not to take this out of context. When Jesus said that, he was talking to teachers of the Law whose social responsibility it was to judge. He criticized them for doing it poorly. Most of us are not in that position, we do not have the social responsibility to judge (condemn) others.
