Thanks for this very useful information❤ I actually struggle to help my wife (25 years) how to read. She didn't have chance to go to school and had always worked at the farm since her childhood until we got married 3 years ago. We both want to homeschool our children it's my honor to help both my wife and my child learning how to read together😊

@@spiritualsoulchild Well, I show the letter A and says "A", one letter at a time. That'd be sounds and letters at the same time. Things were actually quick and quite easy (I do it in a singing voice to make it fun) 😀

When my oldest daughter was 3-4 I started teaching her this way. Letter sounds first and once she mastered that blending CVC words. Lots of games and reading books. She naturally picked up on basic sight words just by reading with me. She could read simple books by 4. Teaching her more difficult words or those that don't follow the rules intimidated me, but ultimately I'm not the one who taught her that, her public school did. But she had a good solid foundation. I plan on homeschooling my two youngest children and so this entire process will be fully up to me. I'm a little nervous but this video made me feel much better!

Tip 3 carries over to doing everything, and we all need to hear it. I focused soooo much time learning how to optimize lifting form, programming, timing, and nutrition that it’s more often than not better to just get started. What I now live by when trying to help others get in to lifting is “better than nothing.” Even a little bit goes a long way 👊

2 sweet children without sitting meat on their butts and being distracted by every bird, I try to learn something as a mother. Their report states, quickly distracted and seeing everything that is happening around them. Which makes listening to the teacher quietly in a classroom not very easy for both of them. But as a human being I don't think it's a bad quality. In life they are allowed to be aware of their surroundings and notice things quickly. I just try to teach them how to leave their environment behind at certain times "blur" so that they can keep their attention on the subject they need to learn. Usually they can choose a pop it that they put next to them. Or several little ones next to each other in the pop-it row. If they have given an correct answer or we have arrived at a correct answer, they can press one. If everything has been pressed on the "pop it" then they can, for example, run 2 laps in the garden. They prefer that I set the timer. How quickly can they get around. (so they can try to improve their own time) Then we are back inside and use 2 dice to determine how many sips of water they are "allowed" to drink. (even if they want a glass full afterwards, they will get it. For them it's about the game element) Then you can continue working enthusiastically again. (Your energy is really important because "what monkey sees, what monkey does." Unconsciously they copy the energy. They rely largely on your energy) Then they also want to continue with the game, which we call learning. ;)

Hi there, I have a few resources that can help. 1. Assess their reading ability to see where it is, and where to go next. 2. Get the info YOU need about phonics to teach them to get to that next level. For assessing- I have this free resource: www.google.com/url?q=www.toddlersread.com/blog/how-to-assess-your-childs-reading-ability-at-home?Dyoutube%26Dorganic%26D&sa=D&source=editors&ust=1687637933242494&usg=AOvVaw0UWczECKkrE2wHJLC_Txk1 For your learning, I have 3 online courses for parents/caregivers giving them everything you need to teach your kid. More info here- www.toddlersread.com/courses? I also have a free training on my website if you want to check it out!

You have been living in my mind the few months since discovering your channel. On a whim sitting with my three year old grand twins I opened the note pad on my iPhone and wrote a and asked what sound while they were playing. Made it through cat then bat . They became half way intrigued during my teaching attempt and I see the light bulb go off in one, like wait I can read. A week later today, one the girls were sick so they got dropped off at my house today . While they were coloring, trying to use up all my paper 📄. I followed your instructions and made me some cards like yours. Shuffle them and started singing, what sounds does the letter make. I pulled the the letter t. One of girls said t, and I showed the same card and she gave me the sound 🎉🎉🎉🎉 it had taken me so off guard, I erupted with laughter and joy 🤩 and gave out huge hugs, praise and high five 🙌🏽 couldn’t believe she remembered because that twin was barely paying attention during the first lesson. My plan is to invest in your program 💪🏽invaluable content 😊thank you!

Have really started incorporating what I've learnt on this channel in teaching my 2,5 year old to read. The "make it fun" part has spiraled into reading words with a flashlight and a pen under the covers while someone else counts then looks for us then finds us. It's... intense. But she's cooperating and reading simple two letter words so it's most definitely a win :)

Hi there, I have many families in my courses who teach reading in English while still speaking both/all languages, and some that teach reading in two at a time. I taught my son letter sounds at age 2 and he knew them all (just lowercase sounds not names) then had a new baby and stopped reviewing and he forgot some. He is 4 now and I am picking it up again since finding your channel. He is really good at retaining information but I find even when I know he knows the sound he will say something else just to be silly. I am using your tips to get kids to follow directions and making it fun but ever lesson he gets silly and intentional does something different than instructed or says different sounds than the letter we are working with. What do you suggest I do differently?

I'm not sure how long you're teaching or how many sounds, but I often find the lessons are too long or there's too much being covered.
