This is such good information for people trying to build a creative business! I’ve owned my creative business for 10 years - starting with wedding stationery to licensing my art, publishing a couple watercolor books, etc. - but it’s really hard to first get going! I hope this video inspires people to pursue their passions. All the best to anyone out there trying to earn a living with their art!

This video is such a great resource for artists. Thanks Mira for putting in all the time and effort, it also helps to smash the ‘starving artist’ trope because there really are so many opportunities so thank you for highlighting some of them. P.s. I also hate commissions😅 Edit: just got to the end & omg I have the same book you recommended! Such a gem💎

Cool cool. Yeah, I second the idea that you can do multiple different things. You don't have to choose a lane. Art isn't my primary money maker, but I have done some commission work, including illustrating a couple of kids books, and leading paint nights. It's all stuff that I can fit in around the rest of my schedule.

im a 12 yo artist and ive been painting my whole life (since 4 yo). Im very young to be thinking about a FRICKEN JOB but my mind has always been set on a professional artist. Ive seen these videos around youtube saying "why do artist have only a 1% chance of success?" and these titles have always scared me.. Its stupid that im worried about my career at the age of 12 but this video has given me alot of encouragement! Ty for making this video ily

This video is very interesting. Its not like your other videos but I am glad you did it. It gave me an insight into things I didnt know about. I have a problem where I do art for money, I get immediate art block. I dont know why, but I do. I used to show my kids how to draw, just for fun. I've lost some of my creative touch though with the stress of everything over the past couple of years so this part of me has disappeared. 🙈

As a User Experience Designer this made me feel very validated also as an artist and I feel it is actually a really good fit to have it as my full time job and have a small side hustle as both those fields use different design/artistic skills. Your last point about resting and being kind to yourself really resonates with me especially right now. My aunt heart.died of a heart attack this week she worked and worked and always put work and other people before her own needs and happiness. I think the stress of that and her choosing not to practice self care led to her death. It's good to care about others and have goals just remember to care for yourself too. Everyone matters.

Thank you Mira so much for this video, it must have taken you so long to edit and film so thank you again for putting the effort into this 🥰🌸 I have always wanted to make youtube, an online store even commissions but I'm scared that I might not do justice to the work or that my art is not good enough to sell yet like I have to improve before I sell my art or what if people don't like it. Thoughts like these stop me from doing all of this, but anyways this was soo helpful and there were many carriers I have never heard of so I'll be doing loads of research on that and the ones I'm interested in. Also, I'm def saving this for later when I've mustered up the courage to start 😅

This is a fab video, I haven’t seen one like it before, and I feel it’s so needed and long awaited! Especially as there’s so many young adults and teens now as up and coming artists, they need guidance. I wish I had this list as a teen. I’m now 40 and getting back into my art after over 20 years, and I wish I’d known I could have made my life and career around the thing I loved and enjoyed most at that time. Im lucky that life is so now that I can get back into it at this age, but it would’ve been great to have had this back then. So thanks for doing this on behalf of everyone, but esp your younger audience 😊🌸💕

Comment on investing in equipment to get started on KZitem: This is absolutely something you can upgrade as you go. If you have a smartphone with a decent camera and enough memory space, that can be your starting camera. (I started with the phone I had just upgraded off of, so storage space wasn't an issue because it wasn't holding anything else.) A goose-neck phone holder clamp is all I've ever used to hold it in place, and this is fine if you're working small and don't need different angles all the time. If you can't afford a separate mic right away, a piece of kitchen sponge over the phone's mic acts as a pop filter and makes your audio sound better. In video editing software you can split the audio off the video file, export it as mono (rather than stereo) to even it out and then layer it back under the video file when editing video. Higher quality tools should open up possibilities and make your work flow easier, but you can work around having less to start.
