I'm not going to correct you because you clearly know more than I do about loading. I just don't have the smarts yet to work out custom loads for all scenarios with powder. Lol But I have 2 300 blk guns one is a 7.5" pistol and the other is a 16" rifle. The pistol is able to run anything. Subs, supers. and I have a krink brake on it so there is some back pressure added though not quite suppressor like. The 16" was a bit pickier. Subs did not run at all very undergassed. Also we are talking factory loads. I corrected this with the action spring going with a 300 blk specific Nemo Arms spring. (Lighter duty). My barrel is a BA barrel and because the gas port is a little undersized it needed a less powerful spring. What ended up happening was subs ran great and supers were overgassed. Added an adjustable gas block and now I have a rifle that will run everything with the caveat that I have to turn the gas down for supers and up for subs. When I get my can I'll have the option to find settings for all scenarios.
@The_Privateer

The key for me to get **good** consistent performance with my 300 BO with both supers and subs was an **easily** adjustable gas block. I use the "Riflespeed" adjustable gas block that has an adjustment 'tube' around the barrel that extends a little bit out in front of the forward-most margin of the handguard. A couple toolless clicks of the gas adjustment ring and it shoots either without having to compromise your loads in any particular direction. I use Win 296 for both, just out of convenience because Win 296 shoots supers sooooooo sweet out of my gun.

Where is IMR4227 in this range? I think it's medium burn. Would that do both? I have a lot of that for my 38 and 357 loads. I never have loaded 300 and as soon as I can get some small rifle primers I was going to jump into loading 300 Blackout.

My favorite powder for supers is L'il Gun, the one you didn't try, but I'm running 125's. I tried the online Hodgdon Data for the 125gn Nosler Ballistic Tip in looking to create a hunting round and then found a source for 125gn FMJ's that are almost the exact same size and shape. I load both at the fully stuffed 22 gns in Remington or Hornady brass (NOT cut-down 5.56 brass) and get superb performance out of my 16inch CMMG barrel.
@SavageTactical

Johnny, something is really fishy about your gun not running the W296 load. I've ran that H110/W296 for years with 110-125 gr bullets and haven't had an issue with my 14.5," 9", or newish 7" daniel defense PDW. The 14.5" and 9" guns have been trouble-free with and without a suppressor (the 7" has only been shot unsuppressed). All three have pistol length gas systems, but they have non-adjustable gas blocks. A good 300blk barrel shouldn't need an adjustable gas block. I think it might be causing you trouble with that W296 load.

I recently put together a Blackout upper for my AR, kind of cheaped out as it meant to be mostly a range toy. 10.5" Faxon gunner barrel, DB BCG, lowpro gas block, spike's tube. Griffin GP7 can pinned to bring bbl to 17". After reading and seeing all the issues people have had getting guns to run reliably, i suddenly feel like ive been exceedingly lucky...it ran subs and supers before the can, and then with it as well, and the only malfs I've had so far were 2 FTFs with cheap WWB 200gr subs. Those things ran filthy! Ive just started working up loads for it, but from Sub-X at 900 to Vmax at 2200, it has fed and tossed brass 3-4 o'clock every time.

You got to feeling better, came back & solved the issues by T&E - Testing & Evaluation. Would have been unlikely or impossible without *knowledge* gained thru experience. Building & shooting loads rather than reading. You generously share what you learn - mistakes & all. THANKS. IDK whether you've tried a LaRue trigger. I really like 'em. $100-$118, single & 2-stage, conventional & straight bow. Tool steel so consistent thru thousands of rounds. I prefer two-stage; mine are absolutely reliable, crisp & consistent at 3 lbs. They offer a stronger spring for those who want a heavier pull weight.
