Wow, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't pay 300 bucks for doing at least advertising for them. But thanks that you did it, so that we could see this awesome arcade. 👍💛
@JustAnotherGamer1005
Жыл бұрын
Why not actually? Why should KZitemrs get everything for free, under the context of, as if they are 'advertising' (sorry, English isn't my native language, so I'm probably messing up sentence right there). They are not really advertising, they are creating content to benefit themselves first and foremost. So if a KZitemr is making money by making a video of their venue, why couldn't that venue ask for a piece of their pie in it? They have to make the investments to keep the venue alive. And who says they need the advertising? If you're a KZitemr that is just starting out, I can understand the resentment to have to pay a higher fee for just filming. But estableshed KZitemrs earn enough money to handle it like a bussiness and thus should understand when something is an investment. A KZitemr shouldn't be free from that. And the "I'm doing a KZitem video, I shouldn't pay" (or worse, "I'm a KZitemr, I want it for free or I'll give you bad publicity", which is basically blackmailing) has been abused so much by now, lot's of venues are beginning to wake up. I've even had outside locations I wasn't allowed to photograph, without permission or press-card. Which you had to make an appointment for and pay. Even if you wanted to take pictures there for a weddingshoot, you still had to pay for it. It's a bit of a toxic social media/KZitemr mindset, to think their content is automatically a great value to a venue, because they are filming/taking photographs somewhere. If it was up to me, 'influencers' wouldn't be allowed to receive any 'gifts' or income generated from their 'influencing'. To think that is even considered a 'job' these days. Mind you, for me there is a difference between 'influencers' and KZitemrs with actual content.

@@IanJacobyandcompany yes I realize people in the Midwest think they are entitled to go into an event space that makes their money by renting out their venue for shoots and demand to shoot for free. Btw you can take pics and vid there with your phone. You can’t have full on set ups or make money off the vids and pics you take. The creator of the video is making money off this video bc he filmed in a cool venue that charges to do so. That’s called a “production”

When I first saw the comment about the $300 price, I have to admit that I was a bit taken aback. But then I took a closer look at the arcade and realized the incredible quality and effort that went into creating it. It made me understand why they charge that amount. I believe their intention is to discourage people from just walking in, taking videos without playing or paying, and leaving. They want to ensure that the space is used by individuals or groups who genuinely appreciate and value what the arcade has to offer. When I thought about it further, I also realized that compared to renting a separate space for filming, $300 is actually a pretty good deal. You get a fully powered space where you can film and create content without any additional hassle. So, from my own personal perspective, I don't think it's as bad of a deal as it may seem at first.

You took one for the team Ralph! Last time I was in LA, I dropped in at VAS. (Vintage arcade superstore) They were super cool and gave me the grand tour. Gene has about every part stashed because he has never thrown anything away. Arcade people around the world share an unique bond. These games were built to bring people together. They did so magically when we were kids. They still do, decades later. Great to see games in the wild like that. Personally, I despise LCD's but have softened up a little. Sometimes, it is the only way to keep a machine operational. That being said, I have fifteen vintage arcade machines. Zero LCDs.

Family Arcade was my joint when I had classes at LA City College across the street. Sometimes I'd stop by for a game of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (man, that game was crack) before I took off for more courses at LA Trade-Tech. Next time you're in Los Angeles, please visit this underground arcade in Huntington Park, on Pacific & Saturn (one block north of Florence Avenue). He only gave me 30 minutes , that was it.... LOL. I mean I think I'm crazy for doing it. I felt that remorse feeling pretty hard right after. Oh well, you live and you learn right. Hey bro... Can I borrow some money? Kidding... Thanks for watching man.

How many views is it going to take to recoup that $300?

Do you have to bring coins to play the games at Family Arcade along with their $25 admission price? I'm visiting LA next week as of the writing of this comment.

You pay $25 to get in and all the games are on Freeplay 👍🏻as far as I know that’s for all-day access.

Ralph....you spent 300 dollars just to get in and film?!?! Did they think you were from a LA Production company or something?!?! I mean, I'm glad you were able to create some content, but it might have been better to check out the place BEFORE dropping 300 dollars to walk around and give THEM and THEIR business free publicity!!! I always enjoy your work, but dang....

It was dumb, I honestly figured they wouldn't care as most places just allow it, but I was wrong. I was there and at the moment I just said "screw it" but live and learn I guess. Thanks so much for watching man, it's much appreciated!

Sadly, he didn't.... everything is on freeplay there but still, I have to pay the "flat rate" on top of the $300.
